Event During a Pathfinder 2.0 session
Natural 20: the highest and best number you can roll in this game, meaning you are automatically stunningly successful at whatever you're trying to do.
So we're playing Pathfinder, and Gronk the gnome has some stuff he's trying to sell. He brings it to Mo the druid, Willow the halfling, and Borkus the goblin (currently shape-shifted into a cat). Willow wants to buy a sword off him, but when Gronk asks how much money she has, she bluffs.
"50 silver." She answers, her face straight. Her mouth twitches. Gronk narrows his eyes, barely seeing through her bluff. She sweatdrops.
"How much do you really have?" He asks, his eyes becoming clear as he sees right through her, rolling a natural 20.
She sighs, revealing her funds. "118 Silver."
Gronk holds his head high. "Since you lied to me, 60 silver."
"What! No! 50 silver!" Willow says indignantly.
"53 silver and 1 copper?" Willow pleads.
Gronk raises an eyebrow. "54," He says unwavering.
Willow reluctantly gives in. "Fine. 54." She grumbles, accepting the cold iron elvish curved blade, and handing over her money. "Maybe I can still get something out of this..." Willow thinks to herself, quietly trying to pickpocket Gronk while her friend Borkus goes behind Gronk and meows furiously, trying to distract Gronk. Borkus rolls a natural 20, meaning Gronk has to roll at disadvantage to catch Willow in the act (meaning he must roll twice and use the smaller/less successful number)
Gronk rolls 2 natural 20's.
Everyone at the pathfinder table stands up, shouting and laughing in delighted surprise.
That's 3 natural 20's rolled in a row by Gronk, with a natural 20 by Borkus thrown in.
That is 4 natural 20's in a single game, in a row.
