who   would  be  the  one  to  randomly  adopt  a  puppy  without  consultation?    elise  is  most  likely  to,   but  i  think  she’d  definitely  run  it  by  wes  first  if  they’re  living  together. who  would  force  the  other  to  take  aesthetic  pictures  of  them?    i  wouldn’t  say  either  of  them  forces  the  other,   but  whenever  they  travel  they’re  definitely  getting  a  bunch  of  cool  pictures  of  their  adventures  together!  who  would  do  stuff  they  think  is  stupid  just  to  make  the  other  one  happy?    both,  but  they  usually  both  enjoy  each  other’s  interests  and  don’t  typically  find  many  of  them  stupid. who  picks  out  the  horror  movies  to  watch  just  so  the  other  will  cling  to  them?    wes. who  is  constantly  studying  and  who  is  constantly  trying  to  distract  them?    neither,  really?   like,   unless  one  of  them  can  see  the  other  really  needs  a  break  from  whatever  they’re  doing,   they’ll  typically  let  the  other  get  what  they  need  done.   otherwise,   they’re  both  likely  to  try  to  give  the  other  a  welcome  distraction. who  initiates  the  facetime  calls  whenever  they’re  separated?    both!   elise  travels  a  lot,   and  wes  works,   so  they  rely  on  facetime  a  lot  and  both  call  whenever  they  can. who  is  more  likely  to  storm  out  after  a  fight  and  who  is  more  likely  to  cry  when  they  do?    i  really  don’t  see  them  fighting  much  or  at  all,    and  especially  not  storming  out  or  leaving  the  other  crying. who  stays  up  way  too  late  binge-watching  their  favorite  shows?    neither;    they’re  usually  both  in  bed  by  a  decent  time,   but  once  in  a  while  they’ll  stay  up  binging  things  together. who  bites  the  other’s  ear  when  they’re  feeling  frisky?    elise  👀 who  sprays  the  other  with  water  when  they’re  washing  the  car?    wes. who  has  more  fun  decorating  the  house  during  holidays?    elise. who  is  more  likely  to  give  the  silent  treatment  when  they’re  mad  at  the  other?    neither.   we  stan  a  communicative  couple. who  plays  with  the  others’  hair  more?    elise  with  wes’,  definitely. who  is  more  likely  to  climb  all  over  the  other  one  when  they’re  bored?    elise. who  tries  to  kiss  the  other  as  often  as  they  can?    both. who  pouts  when  the  other  one  tells  them  to  shut  the  fuck  up?    neither  of  them  really  tell  the  other  to  shut  the  fuck  up  tbh  but  i  feel  like  wes  is  an  expert  pout-er  regardless  ??  who  initiates  the  sex  and  who  walks  away  when  the  other  is  riled  up?    neither.   they  bangin’. who  always  forgets  the  umbrella  and  who  holds  it  when  they  actually  have  one?    wes  usually  forgets  it,   but  he  makes  up  for  it  by  being  the  one  who  always  offers  to  hold  it  for  them. who  demands  showering  first  in  the  mornings?    both! who  sneaks  into  the  shower  with  the  other  one  in  the  mornings?    both  😏 who  prefers  riding  the  roller  coasters  and  who  prefers  playing  the  games?    elise  is  fine  with  roller  coasters,   but  wes  hates  him,   so  he’s  usually  found  playing  the  games  and  winning  stuff  for  elise  and  evie.   who  will  text  the  other  one  thirty  times  in  a  row  until  they  respond?   neither.   they’re  both  pretty  patient  with  each  other  when  it  comes  to  texting  back  because  they  know  things  come  up  and  they  aren’t  always  available  at  every  moment.   now,   they  will  leave  each  other  a  bunch  of  sweet  messages  or  pics  to  come  back  to,   but  there’s  never  any  rush  to  respond. who  always  forgets  to  charge  their  phone  overnight?    neither. who  comes  up  behind  the  other  and  slide  their  hands  into  their  back  pockets?    wes,  though  elise  is  definitely  guilty  of  it  as  well. who  tries  to  get  hugs  from  the  other  as  often  as  they  can?    both!   especially  when  they’ve  spent  some  time  apart  (  re:  work,   traveling,  etc. ) who  is  louder  and  who  constantly  has  the  tell  the  other  to  be  quiet?    neither.

          “ look , the last guys who had a run in with us took our -- well , everything. so as much as i would love to surrender everything i have to you , i don’t have anything. ” that’s not ENTIRELY true. he has parker, strapped in a ratty , makeshift bjorn to his chest. but a baby and a jonah don’t make too threatening a figure , even during the end of the world.

❛    it’s  not  stupid.   ❜     there’s  a  small  smile  as  elise’s  gaze  drifts  across the  small  fire  between  them,   watching  him  briefly  before  looking  back  down  at  evie,   who  had  laid  down  on  the  log  next  to  her  and  fallen  asleep,   her  head  resting  on  elise’s  lap.   the  late  afternoon  sun  was  creeping  down  further  and  further  along  the  horizon,   and  soon  they  would  need  to  keep  walking  and  find  a  safer  place  to  settle  in  for  the  night.   for  now,   things  seemed  calm  enough  to  rest  for  just  a  moment  or  two.    her  fingers   brush  over   the  young  girl’s  dark  locks  before  she  looks  back  up.

❛   i  was  an  uh,   illustrator.    freelance.   didn’t  have  a  degree  yet,  or  anything,   but  i  was  working  towards  it,   and  .  .  .    ❜    she  shakes  her  head  mid - sentence,   chuckling  softly.     ❛   that’s  all  very  boring,   i’m  sorry.   it  feels  weird  to  talk  about  myself  in  the  past  like  that.   you  know,   before.    it  feels  like  another  lifetime  ago.   back  then  i  was  just  a  young  aunt  who  took  her  niece  to  the  park  every  weekend,   and  look  at  us  now.   ❜     she  was  still  young,   but  the  past  few  years  of  just  trying  to  survive  felt  like  so  much  longer.
