“Yes he was successful” Quinn appeared in the room. A triumphant grin upon her face and a melancholy in her eyes. “Your Dad accomplished what he set out to do. The Wandler is gone.”
“Good” Patrick closed his eyes relaxing. “At least his sacrifice wasn’t for nothing.” The effects of the water was wearing off and his throat was back to feeling dry and scratchy. He smiled thankful that he wouldn’t have to worry about becoming trapped inside the void again. His children were safe.
“Hey don’t be going to sleep on us” Brice complained.
Patrick’s lips twitched scooting to the side “join me?”
“I shouldn’t” Brice hesitated “hospital rules forbid it.”
“Get in” Patrick urged.
Giving in to the desire to hold his husband in his arms again Brice climbed into the bed beside him. Before they drifted off to sleep Brice pressed his lips to the tender skin between Patrick’s neck and shoulder.
