It was sad to hear the passing of WWE Hall Of Famer Pat Patterson. Be known as the first WWE Intercontinental Champion, as well as being the first documented openly gay wrestler. Patterson has been known to be controversial both inside and outside of the ring, even when he was no longer in the public eye. After his in-ring career, Patterson became a road agent for the WWE and became part of creative as well. He was the one that created the Royal Rumble, and was known for being the king of finishing matches. During The Attitude Era, he regained popularity as being a part of Vince McMahon's Stooge with fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Gerald Brisco. To this day, he and Brisco still have the highest rated wrestling match in RAW history. Patterson still continued to work with the WWE behind until he died. Rest well, Pat... Terribly sad news coming out of @wwe today, with the sad death of Pat Patterson. The first ever Intercontinental Champion, a Hall Of Famer, and an openly gay performer. I remember him best alongside Geri Brisco as Mr McMahon’s stooges. They never failed to make me laugh or smile.
