I feel so hard for Jack, Lauren and Patrick.
If TV wasn't so fucking ableist and wasn't the 90s they could have gone so far. They could have worked with neurodivergent people and really show some fascinating sides of them, how they can be integrated in society just as easily as everyone else, how society would have advanced to take these people and make them be part of society like everyone else is. Like they should be.
But no. Star Trek went with the 'neurodivergent person has a miraculous cure and becomes "normal"' path and i fucking hate it. I'm not saying I'm not happy by Sarina getting to work through her disabilities but man...
And the way they treat Jack, Lauren and Patrick like the little 'crazy' people and how they 'can't ever be cured' as if they needed to be is so frustrating. They are amazing, and of course, they made it a romantic episode for great Julian Bashir.
I'm sick of it. I love them and I will make them justice, even if I have to major in psycology and psychiatry
