A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ABC NEWS LINKS OPERATOR
“I love the adventure of this job. In News, you don’t know what you are doing tomorrow, I can get a text message saying pack your bags and a week later you return. You get to meet so many people and it puts you in places that tickets can’t buy” - Patrick Rocca, Links Operator
When big stories break, ABC News needs to get video on air and online as quickly as possible. Often a links van is dispatched to feed footage, a live interview or reporter live-cross from out in the field back to the newsroom and TV studios. In this video, Patrick Rocca, one of the Melbourne based links operators, explains the challenges and highlights of the job.

Les Misérables (Paris Revival Cast) - Le Grand Jour (One Day More) - 12th October 1991
Call me slow, but I had never noticed that Enjolras's lyrics in the french version of One Day More were different on opening night from the ones on the recording (That's what happens when you listen to bootlegs while doing something else. You miss a lot of things...) Now, I wonder when the change occurred... All the other versions I've listened had the modified lyrics.
"Le grand jour est pour demain (The great day is for tomorrow) Demain sur la barricade (Tomorrow on the barricade) Mes amis, c'est pour demain (My friends, it's for tomorrow) En avant ! Qui m'aime me suive ! (Forward ! Those who love me, follow me !)"
(Not sure about the "En avant", the sound of the recording is quite poor...)
This is a 2-minute video showing pro-shot footage of the 1991 Paris Revival Cast of Les Misérables. It comes from a documentary about musicals aired on french TV in the late nineties, a few months after the Notre Dame de Paris debuted. The documentary focuses exclusively on shows written by Luc Plamondon and by Claude-Michel Schönberg. I might upload the whole thing one day even if it's in french. The interviews are really interesting as the two men have totally different conceptions of what a musical should be. I've had this TV program on a video tape for years and as I've finally invested in a VHS player and a video capture software, I'm finally able to share that gem with you. I also have a bunch of Starmania and NDP videos that I will upload in the next few weeks. Enjoy.
Les Misérables 1991 paris revival cast with Philippe Ermelier as Javert
Tu as tout à fais raison.
Surtout quand on écoute Philip Quast.
If there are pics of Jerôme Pradon as Marius... There are pics of Patrick Rocca as Javert!
I WANT TO FIND THEM.
