someone should write Shane Hollander pulling a Patrick Roy saying to the team president "i've just played my last game with the canadiens" during the game
Patrick Roy was a goalie for montreal. he helped them win 2 stanley cups and then they hired a coach that hated him personally.
after this game in 1995 he got traded to the avalanche for peanuts and immediately helped them win the stanley cup that season. and again in 2001.
The Canadiens have not won a stanley cup since Roy Left and it's been 30 years.
you could easily take inspiration from this, like say if shane came out to the team and then most of the players and all of coaches/management started being assholes about it. and he finally had it in a game where his line and his coach left him out to dry. and then he has his Patrick Roy moment
Welp there it is, the Patty Roy era on Long Island is over. I’m a little devastated tbh the news hasn’t really sunk in yet
