So, as you may have noticed, shit still sucks. I’m still unemployed thanks to the pandemic, and still don’t qualify for unemployment for some esoteric reason. Being autistic, I have a pretty awful work history, since most capitalists just don’t value my work as much as other folks’ - so that’s also adding on to my difficulty finding a job
Ideally, I want to avoid finding another capitalist job altogether and just focus my time on mutual aid and direct action in my community (for reference, I usually volunteer up to 24 total hours per week at the Free Store and at least a few more hours with Bham Mutual Aid, AL Books to Prisons, and other miscellaneous stuff) - you know, the kind of work that actually matters and makes the world a better place. But making the world a better place just isn’t valued by our current society as much as driving fast food to people’s houses, so I can’t pay my bills like that right now
Knowing that this situation is likely to continue, and hoping that I can make running this blog and doing mutual aid more sustainable, I’m not going to keep asking for ko-fi donations almost every month like I have been. I want something less intrusive to my followers and more consistent. So, I’ve made a patreon
If just 10% of my followers gave $1 a month, or if 1% gave $10 a month, combined with a couple other options I have available to me, I’d be able to pretty consistently pay my bills while also focusing my energy on the struggle. That would be ideal, but any amount of support I can get through this would be massively helpful
I'm not going to put anything like my offer to connect people to local movements behind a paywall, I don’t want to restrict anything like that that could help people, so my options for perks are kinda limited. Right now, if you pledge any amount I'll signal boost pretty much anything you want within reason (art, gofundme, political posts, commission info, fanfiction, shitposts, etc) to this blog once for every month you subscribe. These posts won’t interrupt my usual queue and will be tagged “#patron boost” for anyone who wants to avoid them. I'm open to hearing any ideas for other perks, and will keep looking for anything else I can offer whenever possible
