I listened to a lot of music in 2022. Too much music. 231 new LPs, to be exact, plus a slew of EPs, compilation albums, and live releases. That didn’t give me much opportunity to revisit the albums I did like, so when it came time to rank what I’d listen to, I wasn’t confident. My rankings kept shifting around as the year progressed. Bound for New York aboard the RMS Queen Mary on June 2, 1939, were dancers Fred Astaire and Paul Draper. Astaire could be seen at the time with Ginger Rogers in the picture, The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle. Draper appeared at many popular New York hot spots, including the Rainbow Room, the Persian Room at the Plaza Hotel, and Carnegie Hall.
