10# How many pillows do they sleep with?

Lucia definitely loads up the loft of the SR-2 with pillows. Big pillows, small pillows, all sorts of shapes and sizes. Like its Aria's couch. Both for added comfort and for Garrus' sake since he often "visits" even before they make things official.

Paul probably can get by with that one beat-to-hell travel pillow his mothers got for him when he left for the academy. Fits perfectly in his seabag and it's a reminder of home.

28# What makes them feel safe?

Lucia is a veteran marine officer, a graduate of ICT. Nowhere is sager then amongst her squad, hard trained killers she's more than willing to trust with her life. And of course if Garrus spends the night, the soft rumble of his sub vocals and the weight of him beside her definitely helps her sleep tight.

Paul grew up dreaming of being a Spacer. I think just being aboard a ship in company with his brothers and sisters in arms, makes him feel secure.

See, there's having your OC eclipse the main characters of a setting, which is bad writing, and then there's what I want to do which is giggle to myself at making the tinniest thing I can in canon connected with my OC.

In 2178, when Paul Luckner, Alliance Navigator and all around theater kid, finds out that the colony they've landed on for a supply mission is hosting a production of The Pirates of Penzance he tries to drag his fellow officers, including a Lieutenant Shepard, along.

The Colony is dry, no alcohol to be found, so most of them surprisingly agree, including Shepard who actually enjoys the musical...and watching Paul lean into the edge of his seat and mouth the lyrics to half the musical numbers from memory.

Fast forward to 2184, Commander Shepard speaks with the ship's resident xeno-scientist and recognizes the name of a centuries old opera duo because of a giant dork she served alongside years before.

Stupid OCs centric tiny fic

Shepard stood up from her desk, trying to work the cramps out of her arms.

"EDI. Where is Lt Cmdr. Luckner?"

"Cmdr. Luckner is off duty. He is currently in the starboard lounge. We are engaged in a discussion over the philosophy behind post 1945 musical theater."

She raised a brow,"is that something you're interested in, EDI?"

"No," the AI replied. "But having watched several at the suggestion of the Lt. Cmdr. I must say they are fascinating. Jeff prefers cinema to stage productions. Generally action cinema."

Shepard chuckled as she boarded the elevator, hitting a button to take her down to 3 deck to speak with their guest "off the record". "Well, I'm glad he's broadening your horizons EDI."

He unbuckled his pants and they fell to his ankles. Ash let out a loud chort before she could cover her mouth.

"What"? He asked, slightly indignant.

She pointed to his boxers, they're a warm brown brown with...little doodles of cats on them. Orange fat ones, thin grey ones, a very fluffy white one, all with goofy smiles plastered across their little faces.

"Those are your underwear? What were they, a gift from your parents or something"? She asked suppressing another chuckle. However after a moment of silence from him, she couldn't help it and laughed again.

"That's adorable."

"I am NOT adorable"! He snapped, indignantly, a blush creeping onto his face as he ran a hand across the back of his head.

Ashley grinned standing up, "oh yes you are," and dropped her pants, revealing her own boxers.

"Why don't you help me out of mine then, tough guy."

"i need your help."

The words felt uncomfortable on his tongues even if Paul Luckner certainly didn't have any trouble asking for help. Three years at the naval academy stomped out petty modesty. But these were special circumstances.

Lt. Lucy Shepard stared at the junior navigator as though he'd just announced plans to hop out the airlock naked.

"You need my help...with your girlfriend?"

Paul cringed, "well I need a woman's help and your the only woman I'm friends with." It sounded more pathetic aloud.

"Don't you have two moms you could ask?" Shepard pointed out. Luckner brought up his parents often, the man adored both women, and had even introduced Lucy to the pair when they visited the Hampton Roads home port, DeBois station a few months before.

"You think I want to ask them for a relationship advice?" He hissed with a grimace. After a moment his face shifted to a dejected look.

"I'm sorry Shepard. I'm just nervous. I haven't seen Miya in almost three months. I just want to know how to let her know I still care. That I'm taking us seriously."

Lucy crossed her arms, a warm smile on her lips. "Paul. Showing you care isn't about taking her out or buying her expensive gifts. It's about making her feel appreciated." Her tone was gentle, the verbal equivalent to a soft hand on the shoulder. A platoon leader kept tabs on her squad, she'd talked enough privates and corporals through family issues or relationship troubles.

"Your right " he said after a moment, his frown melting away. "Thanks Lucy. I needed that." He stood and looked at her one last time, and left.

Shepard waited for the door to close before breathing a sigh of relief. She hasn't been in the mood to look at God knows what Luckner we had wanted her "advice" on either.

6# What does their laugh sound like?

Lucy's is a long series of barks, like a seal. She doesn't laugh enough but when she does it's distinct.

Paul's laugh is a short snicker, followed by him trying to stifle himself.

16# Do they have a lucky item?

Lucy has a 45. pistol her ancestors jumped into Normandy with on D-Day, she keeps it in a special case in her quarters. It's one of the only personal items that survived Mindior and somehow even survived the destruction of the Normandy. She retrieved it from the wreck on Alchera at the beginning of ME2. She isn't the only Shepard that's gone through hell.

Paul has his SSV Salamis cap. The old frigate was his first posting out of the naval academy and no matter how many ships or shore postings he transfers to, that hat follows him. He also keeps a copy of Jon Grissom's autobiography in his locker, a gift that helped inspire him to join the Alliance Navy
