@toboe-roll tagged me and for once I actually have something to share, part of my yet unnamed smut story featuring Ashley Williams

Onto lighter subjects they settled on coworkers (her boss, Lieutenant Alenko was a stand up marine and his own work nemesis was a fellow chief named Mandela who didn't know when it was acceptable to cut corners).

Plates were cleaned, glasses drained and refilled. She laughs at one tale about a new recruit who nearly broke his back trying to lift a crate nearly his own weight on a dare. It's a soft giggle that's so unalike the woman before him, all grit and muscle that he feels privileged to hear it.

My first playthrough I actually didn't let Diana Allers aboard the Normandy, 'it's a warship not a film set' I thought to myself 'no room for civilians'. I didn't even catch the report of Allers' death, the ship she embeds on instead being destroyed by the Reapers. However after a playthrough with her I actually ended up liking her. Sort of.

Annoyance over not having the actual reporter characters we've known for two games as an option aside, I do like her character or at least what it represents. She gives an idea of what the home front is like, how people are reacting to the war. Her interviews let Shepard address the public directly too, furthering our status as a key figure in the galaxy.

And Diana is from Bekestein, the same planet Kasumi's loyalty mission took place on. I wish we'd seen more of it.

The Gimli Glider! So many things came together to make this safe landing:

The co-pilot was a local and knew all the local airstrips

...including the decommissioned 10,000 foot military runway they ultimately chose as their destination

...but because it had been decommissioned, was now utilized by a local go-kart club for racing

...which, on that day, was indeed having a great time racing go-karts on the old runway

...and because there was no way to alert the people on the ground and the plane’s approach was utterly silent (NO ENGINES) with kids in go-karts were whizzing around on the runway, the final approach was, shall we say, alarming

...until a parent looked up and noticed a giant fucking airplane getting bigger and bigger

OH GOD HE’S LANDING HERE

Thus within seconds the whole area was cleared by frantic parents

Plane lands perfectly, but without power they had to drop the gear via gravity and the nose wheel failed to lock into place

Front gear collapses

Plane screeches to a halt, and because they landed at a go-kart event pretty much every dad has a fire extinguisher, so they manage to extinguish the small fire caused by friction

The only minor injuries were due to passengers jumping from the emergency exit slides, which dangled off the ground due to elevated tail height

I read an article about this back around 1990 and my favorite part was that, after landing and stopping, the pilots were reflexively going through the “crash landing” checklist, shutting down all the fuel pumps and lines to prevent a fire from spreading, until it dawned on them halfway through that they didn’t need to do those steps because the tanks were quite empty.

So I always default to Lucy if not specified.

4# Describe three of the most important photographs your OC owns: She has a picture of the Shepard family, Hannah, Manny and her brother Henry in front of their house on Mindior. Her little brother is sticking rabbit ears up behind her, both parents with an arm.around each other. It was taken the same year as the raid. It's the last photo Lucy has of her family.

She definitely has a pic of her graduating bootcamp, smooshed between her fellow new minted alliance marines. She enlisted as a private, going through OCS later to commission as a Lieutenant after four years of service.

She probably has one of her and Garrus stashed somewhere. Nothing fancy, the two of them on a supply run at Rodam Expeditions each checking out a rifle, or something touristy from a visit to Ilium with the two of them staring at a camera drone.
