"I'm aware he's an awful character but I liked the idea of this story and couldn't think of another Ben character to do it with. So pretend he's not a filthy Pervert"
********************************************
You are the eldest daughter of a very wealthy family, you had two younger sisters who you looked after. Your father was hardly ever present because he was always working. He always claimed that it came with the territory of being a high ranking government bureaucrat. During the week he was almost never home. He left early in the mornings and didn't get home until late at night after most of the family had gone to bed. Your mother was prone to bad migraines and hardly ever left her room. She was always laying in bed with the blinds shut until a meal was set on the table. So during the week you took care of your sisters, helping them with their school work and anything else they needed.
The country was in the beginning of the second world war and while many people didn't want to accept it you and your family knew it was true. Since things seemed so dark and glum lately your father had been making sure to take weekends off. He used that time to invite his friends over to smoke, swim and get drunk. Your father had made a new friend a couple of years ago, Paul Marshall. He had become your fathers best friend coming over to the house every weekend and even coming over on days your father couldn't be home to help you with your sisters.
Paul was the youngest of your fathers friends. He was in his mid thirties and was the owner of a huge chocolate company so he was rich. Which is probably how he and your father ended up being friends. However you never would have imagined how close you and Paul would become. Your father had asked him once to come to the house and check on you all because no one was answering the phones and after that Paul would come over once a week to help you look after your sisters. In that time you and Paul had gotten close you made the perfect duo especially when it came to your sister's homework. Anything you weren't good at Paul was and anything he didn't know you seemed to know.
You had developed feelings for him quickly. He was smart, handsome and seemed to always make time for you. After a couple months you and Paul started seeing each other in secret. He was at the house once a week helping with your sisters so they didn't think anything of it when he started coming over more often. The only issue was that he was over ten years older than you and you knew your parents, especially your father wouldn't agree. He took his job as a bureaucrat very seriously and you knew he would be furious to learn about your relationship with Paul because it would be seen as inappropriate and improper to be with someone that much older than you. You knew your fathers only concern would be what his other friends thought about your relationship. So you and Paul kept sneaking around, you knew you couldn't keep it a secret forever but you both agreed it would be better if you eased your father into the idea of you dating his best friend. You and Paul started acting a lot more friendly toward each other hoping your father would be able to see the feelings you and Paul had for each other but he seemed to ignore you both.
It was the middle of summer so your sisters didn't have to worry about school or school work and you didn't have to worry about helping every night so you finally had some time for yourself. It was the weekend and your father was home and of course he brought Paul with him to stay over for the weekend. You never could have guessed that things would have gone so bad in one weekend. Everytime Paul stayed over you would sneak into his room after everyone went to bed and you would sneak back into your room in the morning. This weekend was no different but things took a twist when your father barged into Paul's room and caught you making out.
"What the Hell is going on?" Your father's voice boomed through the house. You wouldn't be surprised if he woke up everyone else in the house.
"Dad." You gasped and pulled away from Paul.
"Jack, listen, we can explain." Paul stood from his bed with his hands up. "Y/N and I, we've been seeing each other and we meant to tell you. We were going to tell you but we knew how you would react."
"The fact that you are standing there half naked after I just caught you with your tongue down my daughters throat I find that hard to believe!" Your father continued to yell.
"Jack, I swear to you I have nothing but good intentions with Y/N. This isn't just some fling. I love your daughter."
"It's true dad, we were going to tell you we just wanted to ease you into the idea of us being together. That's why Paul and I have been acting more friendly towards each other when you're around. We thought if you could see what you thought was the beginning of us developing feelings for each other you would be more understanding that we're in love. I love him, dad." You explained sitting up in the bed so you were in a more appropriate position.
"How long has this been going on!?"
"A little over eight months. Y/N and I started developing feelings for each other not long after you asked me to come over here the first time to check on your family the night of the power outage. When you asked me to come over once a week to check on them things got more serious. I started falling for her and she fell for me. Eventually we told each other the truth about our feelings and decided to do something about it." Paul explained, picking up his shirt from off the floor and putting it on.
"Eight months you hid this from me. Eight months you have been coming into my home and defiling my daughter all while still smoking cigars and drinking whiskey with me as if nothing had changed!" He screams, directing his anger at you now.
"Jack please, you are my friend and I care about you. I never meant for this to happen, it just did. I tried to hide my feelings but when Y/N confessed hers I couldn't. I couldn't reject her because I felt the same way. I am still the same man you knew before you found out. The only difference is you now know that I will do anything for Y/N. I will love and protect her with my life no matter what." Paul stepped in front of you to take the heat of the argument.
"You have used our friendship to get to my daughter. And you Y/N. What will everyone think when they find out you are dating someone over a decade older than you. This is completely inappropriate and improper! You are taking advantage of my daughter! She just graduated school last year, she barely knows anything about the real world!"
"You're wrong! I know plenty about the real world. I know about people trying to take advantage of me because of my wealth and my relationship with you. I dealt with it all through school. I know more than you think dad. I can recognize someone who is trying to use me and Paul isn't one of those people. I have watched you and your friends use each other my whole life. The only reason you're friends with half of them is because of their wealth and the opportunities and doors they can open for you and they do the same to you. Paul isn't the same as them. He's real, he wants to be your friend and he doesn't need your money or for you to open any doors for him." You corrected your father which was rare. You never raised your voice to your father.
"Paul is the only one of your so-called friends who was willing to come to the house and check on us. He came to the house to help me take care of your other children because you are never here and mother is somehow always ill. He cares about you. That is why he started coming to the house in the first place because he is your best friend and he is your best friend because he is the only real friend you have. Along the way I fell in love with him and I will never apologize for that. Now there is always the chance that in time this relationship between us won't work out but that doesn't matter because right now it is working and I am happier than I have been in a very long time. Paul might be older than me but did you ever stop to think that you are best friends with someone almost half your age. My relationship with him is no more inappropriate than yours."
"You are only 19 years old Y/N he is 32."
"I don't care how old he is. Are you forgetting only a few decades ago 35 year old men were marrying 15 year old girls? This is not as bad as you're making it out to be. Paul and I don't care what others think of our relationship." You cut him off.
"We love each other Jack. I know this is hard for you and I understand if you need time but Y/N and I will not stop seeing each other unless it is what we want. You know me, you know I will do anything to protect and provide for her. She will live a comfortable life with me and yes it's far too soon to be talking like that but if that is what you're worried about you know she will be well cared for." Paul assured your father.
"She's young. If you hurt her so help me God Paul I will end you." Your father warned.
"You have my word I won't."
"Don't fuck under my roof." He huffed then slammed the door behind him.
"Did we just get his blessing?" Paul asked you.
"I think we did. But reluctantly."
"He'll come around." He said, sitting next to you in bed.
"I know he will. He just needs a few days to process." You pulled him back under the covers.
"I love you." He turned on his side facing you with his head on the same pillow and his arm around your waist.
"I love you too." You kissed him. "Now let's go back to sleep. You kept me up late last night."
"Do not say that in front of your father." You both laughed and went back to sleep.
