I don't think I can ever, ever, forgive the people who voted republican in 2024-2024. On a personal note, people voting republican is a direct cause of my current financial woes (I came out negative $ every month because republicans voted to fuck over everyone on ACA which caused my premiums this year to triple in price for THE SAME plan). Their actions have caused costs of living in this country to rise everywhere.

On a broader note, the actions of Rs in our government have gotten millions of people around the world killed. Their actions have allowed greater spread of infectious diseases here and abroad. Their actions have gotten more people killed in conflict zones around the world. Their actions have defunded research for cancer and other diseases and reversed progress in eliminating TB. Their actions have caused people to die because they can no longer afford healthcare. Their actions have caused people to die because they can no longer get safe abortions (or any abortions). The culture they promote has caused violence against women and children to increase everywhere in this country which gets women and children killed. Their actions have gotten immigrants killed by ICE. Their actions have gotten US citizens killed by ICE. Their actions have caused transgender people around the country to suffer (and increased violence against them while denying them gender affirming care, which can save their lives).

Republicans have committed innumerable, evil, sins in this country during both 1.0 and 2.0. Even before the government and society destroy, culture war, christian nationalist, fascist, idiotic, bigoted, bullshit cult of today rose to power their party was committing evil, but it has fucking ballooned in the last decade in a way that would have been almost inconceivable back in 2008. It's depressing, awful, frightening, painful, and destructive. It has unleashed a massive storm of hatred and bigotry and allowed cruelty, rudeness, selfishness, extreme bigotry, and divisiveness to become mainstream.

And for what? For big money for them and their friends? For cruelty's sake? For their morally abhorrent strongly held beliefs about people and society? To cause suffering? In revenge for the election of Obama? In revenge for feminism giving women the right to be their own people in society? To gleefully cause chaos and destruction? To destroy our country and our government from within? To destroy people's lives?

Something that I find particularly infuriating is that the orange cult is, for those at the top is just an abhorrent grift to enrich themselves at the cost of everyone else. Their cultist followers are being played by them and they either don't realize it or don't want to admit they've been played. At least the cultist followers have strongly held beliefs (even if they are terrible, awful ones) -- the orange cult leaders believe in only themselves and their wealth. They flip flop on every stance, change their mind chaotically, and do everything just to get richer.

I think for many of us this grift mindset is inconceivable. What are they going to do with all this money? Sit on it until they die like a dragon sitting on a hoard and killing everyone in their way?

I've just been perpetually simmering with fury about this for months and months like a poison in my stomach. I wish that we did not live in this time, that the world did not have to live through the rise of fascism (but somehow stupider) again. . But as the astute lotr quote that is perennially relevant these days go, so do all who live through such times.

I do think most anti-vegan hostility comes from the uncomfortable fact that vegans pretty obviously have the moral high ground. It's a lot easier to mock someone for sticking to their principles than to ask yourself why you don't
