A very interesting aspect of the weapon design in Deus Ex: Invisible War is the fact that all guns make use of a single, shared ammunition resource. Instead of using a variety of ammunition amounts, the player can always fire any weapon they have so long as they possess the minimum amount of ammunition for that weapon to fire once. In addition to simplifying ammo collection, this also nicely creates an interesting gameplay dynamic, where the upper level of a player’s stored ammunition feels that much more restrictive, and thus requires them to make each shot count all the more.
