Dear Dad (( sWEATS NERVOUSLY ))
((OH GEEZ))
Dear Dad Father,
I know it will probably make you angry to hear this, however it must be said.
You were wrong about Stanley.
Both of us were.
He isn’t a deadbeat. He saved me when I made a huge mistake and I couldn’t save myself. He’s smarter than we gave him credit for, then even he gave himself credit for.
I’m also not the pure boy you think I am. I made mistakes. Grave mistakes. I’ve lied to you. Both of you and mom. I wasn’t inventing things. I was chasing legends, anomalies. And… I’m not sorry for that.
I enjoyed my research. It was fun, while it lasted. I just wish I had something to show you for it.
If anything, Stan has more to show for the last 40 years than I do. He set up a business, and it is successful. He has friends that he’s made here. People he can call family even after we turned our backs on him.
I don’t have anything. All my research was destroyed in an accident. I have nothing to show.
I’m sorry I never lived up to your expectations. Stanley really deserves all the credit he can get.
Signed
Stanford
