Throughout the story, Gezte kills three women. In the original manuscript, they were simply victims and nothing more (apart from Aranka, who holds a lot of value to Gezte as a friend). One of the major changes I’m planning on making in this revision is that they will each have a symbolic value attached to them – Tañsilu, the first to be killed, will represent pride and everything that comes with it; self-love, strength, power, achievement, independence; Irina will represent tenderness; curiosity, calmness, intelligence, bravery, openness; finally, Aranka will represent kindness; love, generosity, the ability to see good in the world and not be jealous of others. As Gezte kills them, she will lose these aspects and doom herself to monstrosity (which really is just the consequence of the repression she has faced). For this reason, there will also be an alternative ending, which is just a few lines longer than the original.
