I want to preface this with the fact that I realize MC was the one who started everything
But, wow, did this chapter make me hate Ava
Several of the past few chapters have made me dislike her more and more actually
1. She let her best friend (who according to canon is a young, attractive girl) walk home alone late at night. Let alone, in a city that has a fair amount of criminal activity from what we've seen. Who does that? Who cares so little about their friend that they're willing to actively allow them to be put in danger?????
2. She did nothing about Lauren, who let the MC fall and break their arm--on Ava's watch, no less. (I am not blaming Ava for this happening, but since she is the cheer captain she should have at least done something about it.)
3. Despite the incident from the above point, she even promoted Lauren to, arguably, the most important spot on the team--for the sake of being petty, no less. Even though Lauren has proven to have a horrible work ethic. Yes, MC physically would not be able to do it because she was grounded. But for crying out loud, she's the co-captain. Why didn't she discuss with her? Why couldn't she appoint someone else on the team? You know, someone who didn't harm another member of the team?
I really want Ava and MC to be best friends (like they are supposed to be, even though we have yet to see one sign of their so-called "best-friendship.") But I currently have no reason to root for Ava at all.
Ava has every right to be annoyed that her best friend kissed her boyfriend. I'm sure any one of us would be beyond upset if something similar happened to us. But when you are actively endangering your "best friend's" life and hurting them just for the sake of it, it says a lot more about you than them.
Do I want Ava to get a redemption arc? Heck yeah. But at this rate, I think she has a lot more cleaning up to do than MC.
