Even if I’m completely wrong about the culture of our profession, you are all doing awesome things and you need to promote it far more than you do already. Because the deal is, that by promoting yourselves and your work as a librarian to the world (and to the profession) you are actually helping librarianship as a whole.

Get it published before ALA Midwinter 2013 in a non-LIS print publication (newspaper, magazine, etc.). A letter to the editor could be enough.
