Nothing felt normal. Except ... maybe it did. Andrew was all too used to the sinking feeling that embedded itself into his gut after he did something wrong. He had lived with it on and off since he was barely walking, and right then, it had swallowed him whole. So things were normal, really, but nothing felt right.
All Andrew knew was that he had to make things right with Iris. He had to mend the damage he had created by lying, by habitually hiding himself away. The man wasn’t sure what he could say. His words didn’t seem enough, his apologies useless compared to the pain and distrust he brewed by trying to protect everyone. Andrew knew the practice was futile, you could never make everyone happy, but he’d keep trying until his dying breath.
The only thing he could do then was talk to Iris -- keep telling them the truth -- and hope and maybe they could find forgiveness somehow.
He walked from his car up to Nathan Hart’s front door, loosening the tie he wore all the while. Andrew crossed the old porch and knocked at the door, surprised when no one answered right away. The man waited, dragging a hand through his sandy brown hair. Nothing happened. He waited still, and finally heard the sound of Finn barking in the house’s back. Andrew walked around the porch and spotted Iris out on the beach behind the house, returning from what seemed to be a walk. Andrew leaned against the back porch rail and waved out at her, the bright setting sun causing him to squint his eyes. Iris approached, walked through the back gate. “Hey,” he said, as soon as they were close enough.

Iris doesn't know where she came from, but she's currently discovering she might not be one of a kind
