PC Journey Vol. 7, Finale!

It’s done! 

After a whooooole lot of blood sweat and tears (mostly tears), my PC is built and functioning! All I have to do now is get myself a WiFi adapter so I can get my software, and I’ll be in business!

This was quite the learning experience. And I gotta say, it was surprisingly easy???? Like I had a huge problem with one of the screws on the Motherboard being completely stripped that was a damn nightmare tbh, but other than that it went pretty smoothly! Definitely worth it to save the couple thousands of dollars difference it would have been to outright buy a computer of similar power.

PC Journey Vol. 6

And the final pieces have arrived!

I’m so glad I can finally exhale that all the pieces got here safe and sound. I’m gonna spend the rest of the evening preparing my desk and tomorrow...

It’s building timeeee!

P.S.: Not pictured above is my hard drive because apparently my laptop thinks its a meanie and wont download its picture to be posted.

PC Building Journey 5?? (I think)

I got this delivery late yesterday and forgot to upload it :’D But here are my Motherboard and power supply!

I gotta say the Motherboard is the single most intimidating thing I’ve ever seen. Not only because the box looks like hunting equipment, but the board itself is so intricate looking! Here’s hoping it all goes well when I start building! Which may actually be later today!

I have one more delivery I’m supposed to get this morning and then I’ll have all my parts!!!

PC Journey Vol. 4

The case is here! I am super happy with it, and I think it’s gonna be really easy to work with. I even got a gift receipt with it too which is nice to have as a back up. Now I didn’t originally want it to be a “gift” order, but if I hadn’t asked to make it a “gift”, they would have just shipped it without hiding what it was. To completely cover what exactly was inside the box, they had to put it in another box that is comically massive, so I see why they wouldn’t by default, but like....I don’t want people being able to see it because it’ll get stolen so..... >.>’

The only complaint I have is where the company opted to put the directions for this thing. The company openly admits that this case is meant to be used by “beginners who have never built their own PC before,” which is wonderful. But knowing that, where would you expect the instructions to be? On the outside of the box? Tucked into the styrofoam padding? 

NOPE!

I had to remove the case completely from its packaging, take off one of the side panels, then remove one of the hard disk drive holders to get to an accessories box that had the directions in it... Isn’t that kinda like asking someone to cook a 3 course meal before teaching them how to boil water?

Oh well, its a minor complaint, and the case looks great! I’m very happy :D

PC Journey Vol. 3

The first pieces have arrived!

Not too much to say about these. They’re definitely the most tame pieces I ordered. I’m just super impressed they got here so fast and in good condition lol.

PC Journey Vol 2.

The pieces have been ordered! And HOLY HELL was it a NIGHTMARE making sure I didn’t screw myself over with the price! Ultimately I had to order the pieces from two different places because things were actually cheaper with Best Buy. For anyone looking to do this, make sure you shop around for prices. Chances are somewhere has the part for like $20 dollars cheaper, which adds up quick.

But make sure when you order off Amazon, they’re actually charging the card you want because I didn’t and I almost had a heart attack because I didn’t have enough on that card so I had to sprint to the order and change it before I actually went into cardiac arrest.

Whew my heart is still poundin’ :’D

Rae’s PC Journey Vol.1

Sooooo I’m getting a professional grade PC! I’ve been in touch with my animation professor and he okayed these parts for me to buy and put together so I have a stronger system for my 3D work. I’m posting updates for it here for A) something fun for me to look back on, B) A form of documentation???? Just in case something happens, the more I keep track the better prepared I can be, and C) For advise! Obviously I trust my Animation teacher a great deal, he is a very successful 3D artist and knows what he’s doing. But I know that more opinions can’t hurt so why not put it out there. 

Currently nothing is bought because Lord knows it is not a small purchase, so I want it to be a solid investment, so any input or advise would be greatly appreciated! If you want some volg-like fun following me on my dive into PC building, feel free to follow along on my PCBuildingJourney tag :3
