I was talking with my dad about being interested in building my own pc one day, and he was like "I've built one before!" and I was like "no way!" and we kept talking about it and apparently its because back in the day building your own pc was cheaper than purchasing one (this makes me sound so clueless young gen z). Anyway, I asked where the pc was now. He responds "in a landfill somewhere. It got old and stopped working right". IM SORRY!?!?!?!? WHY WOULD YOU THROW YOUR BABY AWAY?!?!?!?! ARE YOU GONNA THROW ME AWAY WHEN I STOP WORKING?!?!?!?! Maybe I'm sentimental but I would keep all my projects, no matter how degraded they are. Call it hoarding, call it archival, call it memory-keeping, call it whatever. I simply cannot comprehend why my father would throw a homemade machine away.
Is my PC my PC based on its case or are the internal components the real PC. If I put all the same components into a different case, is it still the same or is it the same PC if I change out every component inside the old case? I've been slowly updating/ changing out my pc parts for years now and I cannot even remember if the old pre-built PC i bought years ago is even there anymore.
I don't know why im ship of theseus-ing my PC, but I love this thing so much, even if it is slowly dying and gasping for air every time I turn it on to play a 2010s game. Love you babe <3
As much as I do adore FreeBSD being my daily driver, I don't think I can continue to use it due to several pieces of software not working correctly (even if recompiled for FreeBSD). I do like my computer actually working, at the end of the day.
I am going to switch back to some Linux variant, undecided what exactly yet. Probably a Ubuntu descendant (which I know is a controversial choice in the Linux community, but it is a choice with strong driver support and extensive software compatibility).
My (once again) rebuilt computer just successfully completed its first power up. Its newly installed intake fans work properly - the installation is soon.
motherboards without POST indicators should be illegal
Playing with prism lens. All effects are authentic :) This machine runs Arch btw

Imo best configurations for Linux is go full AMD. Everything is out of box. He is 4 years old. His name is Sir Rickenbacker.
Hello NSR fandom. I once again bring you slop in the form of showing off my PC I built in March. "No! Don't turn me into marketable PC! Wait.. marketable you say?"
