My Supportive Buddies

My externship buddies, Minerva and Qiaoer, are incredibly passionate about design. Having them by my side has made the externship even more amazing. Despite being final year students, they've generously shared their design insights and experiences, enriching my learning. One thing that really stands out is how good Minerva and Qiaoer are at leading our talks with smart and interesting questions. They're great at going deep and finding important ideas during our discussions in the externship. This skill of theirs is super valuable. It's helped us understand things better as a group and has shown us new parts of design that we hadn't seen before. I’m truly grateful for their unwavering support and wanted to take a moment to express my thanks.

A continuous Client Relationship

Our day started with a meeting for the design team to get ready for the next day's presentation. It is good to understand how team members are sharing their ideas and figure it out that what needs to be modified. After that, Ruthie took us to 282 Bremen project, which is a multi family building that located in East Boston. It is my first time visiting multi family construction site. I got a chance to understand the layout of different units.

The Cambria project inspired me that designing with client's branding combines with local inspiration is important.

Also we had a chance to talk to Rakshit, who is master student at the BAC, he shared a lot about his own experience working at RODE, and his advice on how to balance work and study as well.

Day 1 Workplace

Our first day starts with the weekly stand-up. Everybody in the office are gathering together and update on what they are working on, and we got a chance to introduce ourselves to the whole team. After that we joined a meeting with Ruthie and Ben to talk about the Cambridge project. It's good to understand how a team catching up with each other. After that, Ruthie Ben and Anna gave us a briefly introduction about RODE Architect, and we went out for lunch with Caroline, Zoe and Amanda. It is always good to listen and share thoughts. After lunch we joined an OAC meeting with Ben and Katya, and they introduce us the affordable housing project that they are working on. It is such a good start! Thank you all!

I am Qiaoer

My name is Qiaoer, so excited to join BAC Connex again! I am currently in my last year of Bachelor of interior architecture program, and this is the third time I am applying for this amazing 5-day program! Can't wait to start my Fall semester with BAC Connex!

Hello there !! My name is Ronald Castro Pizarro. I am in my 3rd year of the B. Architecture program, and my externship is with NBBJ. Im Originally from Chile, came to Boston about 10 years (oof that's a lot).

Am really looking forward to meet the people from NBBJ and see what the office culture and their commitment to the public is.
