Indian Team Sent Off for PD Champions Trophy 2025 with Full Support and Encouragement
The Indian cricket team, representing the country at the Physically Disabled (PD) Champions Trophy 2025, received a heartening send-off in New Delhi today. The event, held at The Imperial Hotel, Janpath, was attended by Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), who has played a key role in preparing the team for this prestigious tournament.
During the ceremony, Mr. Jaitley distributed vital cricketing equipment, including bats, pads, gloves, and helmets, ensuring the players have the tools they need to perform at their best on the international stage. In his address, Mr. Jaitley praised the players for their unwavering determination, saying, “These athletes are an inspiration to us all, embodying the spirit of cricket and resilience. We are proud to support them, and we are confident they will make the nation proud.”
Also present at the event was Mr. Ravi Kant Chauhan, Secretary General of the Differently-Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI). He expressed his admiration for the team’s hard work and dedication, stating, “The players have worked tirelessly to reach this point, and their commitment is unparalleled. We are confident they will make a significant impact on the global stage, and the entire country stands behind them.”
The PD Champions Trophy 2025 will feature four teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England. The Indian team, led by Captain Vikrant Ravindra Keni, is set to face off against Pakistan in a thrilling opening match on January 12, 2025.
The event has gained attention globally, especially with the efforts of Mr. Jay Shah, Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC), who has been a driving force behind initiatives promoting diversity and inclusivity in cricket.
The send-off ceremony, under the banner of #AbJunoonJitega, was a celebration of the players' resilience and the increasing support for differently-abled athletes in cricket.
