An intelligent and ambitious, but also ruthlessly sadistic and power-hungry peacock who desires to rule over all of China, and intends to do so through the use of the revolutionary and dangerous new machines he's engineered. Namely, cannons. He hails from a noble family who had invented fireworks, and while fireworks were admired for their beauty, Shen thought only of how they could be weaponized. While an accomplished engineer, Shen is also an effective martial artist and fights mainly with a sword, the blades he keeps hidden in his robe, or his metal-covered talons.
Shen is responsible for the massacre of the pandas, as the Soothsayer had foretold that he would be stopped by a warrior of black and white, and he wanted to prevent his own downfall. But some survived, and one who was sent away to safety as a baby, Po, went on to become the Dragon Warrior, and thus in a way, Shen ensured his own defeat.
