a pedestrian path with beautiful lights
This is a nice sight, to me. Two people with bags of groceries, walking out of the Midtown Publix store on Spring Street. They're headed to the pedestrian path that a developer has created, to make up for the loss of the sidewalk during construction. 👍 Honestly, 10 or 15 years ago I would have been shocked to see a car-travel lane removed to make way for a pedestrian path in this circumstance, but it's starting to become more commonplace (it is, in fact, required -- but the city never enforces it). Taking a travel lane away from the road in order to keep pedestrians safe during construction is the way it should be.

The other day I was at the Coopers Cave Ale Company (#24 on my list here) and I noticed a bike trail right outside the building. What was this trail?
It was the Warren County Bikeway! The bikeway stretches from downtown Lake George to downtown Glens Falls. You can start south and reward yourself with a swim at the beach in Lake George! Or start north and stop for lunch/beer/ice cream (the pistachio ice cream was delicious!) at the Coopers Cave Ale Company. Either way, it’s a win-win.
There’s a great map that identifies the mileage to each of various destinations. (Note: It is about 10 miles from Lake George to Glens Falls.) Check out the map here:
