orchid: what's a song you consider perfect?
there's too many to choose from.... oh no 😭 ... uhhhh I shall go with Alienation by Morning Parade for multiple reasons!!
a) it was the first song I distinctly remember actually liking and wanting to listen to over and over again. I first heard it when I was probably like 5 or 6 years old... at the time our car's Bluetooth was very buggy so my dad had only TWO song options to choose from, I think the other one apart from Alienation was called Sleep Like a Baby or something, but I did not like it at ALL , in fact you could even say I dreaded listening to it 😭 so I'd beg my dad to skip it and play Alienation but my younger brother liked Sleep Like a Baby better so my dad said "no you have to take turns" LMAO
b) The instrumental is so so soososooo goood...... it has a kind of futuristic feel to it??? I don't know... like each time I listen to it I feel like I'm peering into the future... it feels almost apocalyptic.. even though the song's intended meaning (from what I've gathered) is . very different
c) It has lyrics that are VERY VERY applicable to a lot of my historical favs... so I like daydreaming to this one a lot

like okay. straight up ALL of the historical figures are embodied in this because there are SO MANY THINGS we do not know about them!!!! AND Probably Never Will

Anything even remotely close to my historical interests... hell it could be something just related to history in general and I'd still love it!!! And of course, I also love myself some good art supplies and sketchbooks...

Song that showed up when I reshuffled it: "HAHA! - Remix" by Lytra, Vyzer, kets4eki, and asteria 😭 i listen to scenecore (the genre this song falls under I'm pretty sure) mostly for the super duper awesome music...... the lyrics half the time i can hardly apply to any of my interests in like. a meaningful way, and it is especially true for this song, which is mostly about sex (especially one-night stands, that's the main component of the chorus of the song) and drugs. basically, I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the instrumental and melody
Would you believe me if I told you I associated it with uh.... the most visible* liberators of Latin America...? Like I'm talking Bolívar, San Martín, Pedro I, and Iturbide 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 these four are actually um . some of the few this song can even remotely be applied to considering how (i'm pretty sure) all of them did an Extramarital Sex Thing at some point
and uh there's exactly 4 artists who made the song so.... the numbers work too....
**I say "most visible" because across the internet and SOMEEEE academic articles it appears that these 4 (with the exception of Iturbide, who's got SERIOUS competition from Hidalgo, and rightfully so) are considered the "Main Liberators" of Latin America... but i feel like giving that title to people doesn't do justice to all my other #goats so I just said "most visible"
the reason I put Iturbide instead of Hidalgo, who ALSO, especially considering he was a PRIEST, was a freak, is because Iturbide is from the same rich white boy elite class the other three are from. Hidalgo, on the other hand, was a poor parish priest when he launched the independence movement and he cared a lot for the Black and Indigenous people of Mexico. He's the real goat in my eyes but Bolivar would have shit himself and died before TB could get him and San Martin, I don't know, would've run off to Europe (again) upon learning that this guy was up there with them . as national liberators of course . because oh no the ANARCHY!!!!! (sarcasm) Pedro I admittedly know less about but from some surface level research I think he could get behind Hidalgo's support of the marginalized groups but not the social revolution that accompanied the Grito de Dolores
