But that's OK coz I won't leave him alone either! #hardythecat #cats #catsofinstagram #catsofinsta #peepeye

For when you’re in a bar and the drunk to your right bets you can’t name all four of Popeye’s nephews. And I don’t know about you, but there’s no way Popeye, DDS is going to stick his dirty, sea-faring mitts in my mouth.
It's Pinecone! My cute little hedgehog with a ton of attitude!
A Texas Tree Trimming Party
This afternoon we headed down to Gamma and Peepeye's house for a full-on Texas Tree Trimming Party complete with a dancing Santa, Christmas cookie decorating, and boot ornaments for the three littlest Texans in the family.
It was so much fun watching the three cousins at ages where they are all starting to interact with one another more. I can only imagine how the holidays are going to evolve over the years. We are in for lots of laughs and memories, I'm sure.
The only sad part was that Papa Gaga started to come down with the tummy bug that's been going around while we were en route and consequently had to spend the whole party sequestered away laying down in bed. But in typical mommy blogger fashion, I took nearly 10,001 photos so he could hopefully still feel like he was a part of the fun. This post is dedicated to you, my poor, sick hubby!
The kids loved sorting through the boxes of old ornaments -- one for each year of their Daddy and Uncle's life. I think this lobster was definitely Toddler Gaga's favorite.
Baby Gagette was a fan of pretty much any ornament that was sparkly and/or jingly.
And for a family where there used to be just one female always in charge of putting the star on top of the tree, there are now FIVE contenders for that special job. Pretty crazy how things can change in just a few years, huh?
It may be sunny and temperate here, but it's definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas around these parts. Thanks for such a lovely party that definitely got us in the spirit, Gamma and Peepeye. Only three more days!
Lobster Feast
When we lived in Massachusetts it was really nice having Gamma and Peepeye spend a few months of their year in Maine. We could easily hop in the car and visit them within two hours. Now that we're living in Texas, however, it's not quite as convenient to see them during the summer months. But if there is a silver lining to Gamma and Peepeye fleeing the Texas heat and heading north, it is this:
Upon their sweet return, not only do we get them back, but we also get treated to REAL MAINE LOBSTAH!
Baby girl loved it, of course...it's in her blood! Even without any teeth she gobbled down at least half of one of these guys.
And the little man is a pro at devouring lobster by now. He also loved sucking the briny ocean water out of multiple people's claws.
Despite all the cracking and slurping and "mmmm" sounds, some dinner guests still managed to sleep through it all.
I can't imagine how many lobsters will be needed next year when we'll have three full-on solid-eating little people to compete with for food!
Triple Texas Birthday Bash
This evening we headed over to Peepeye and Gamma's house for a big old dinner party celebrating the three May/June birthdays in the family.
1) Peepeye
2) Auntie Gaga
3) Moi
In addition to baking her traditional angel food birthday cake, Gamma also cooked up a mouth-watering surf and turf dinner for the whole gang.
When I wouldn't let Baby Gagette sink her teeth into my bacon-wrapped filet mignon, she started eating the plate in front of her instead. I felt so guilty. Next year, little one.
It was a wonderful night of family, fine food, baby cuteness overload, and reminiscing with Banny who happened to be in town for the celebration. Not a bad way to wrap up my first birthday as a Texan!
