Initial thoughts on Catching Fire (no spoilers)
before I go to sleep since I am emotionally exhausted. INCREDIBLE. As a super fan I could not have asked for, or dreamed up anything better than this film.
EVERYTHING mesmerized me. So many little touches thrown in & SO SO SO SO SO true to the novel. The entire movie was 10x better than the first (which i adored) in every way possible. It still is continuous with the first as well, which I appreciate since there was a new director.
The new characters. Wow. Jena Malone stole every scene she was in. Jeffrey Wright made Beetee literally spark. Mags warmed and broke my heart. Woody, Elizabeth, Liam all continued to BE their characters- in fact, even better than before. President Snow sent shivers down my spine. Josh Hutcherson made Peeta GROW so much. SAM CLAFLIN WAS LITERALLY FINNICK RIPPED FROM THE PAGES. And Jennifer. Oh Jennifer. These movies would be nothing without her. Nothing. Best actress of our generation.
Thank you Francis Lawrence. You killed it. I am waiting with bated breath for Mockingjay Part I which comes out in exactly a year. Wow.
