He grew up in New York, going to Mt. Abraham High School — he was Tod’s boyfriend. Since he took Spanish instead of French, he never qualified to go on the trip, and so never came near Flight 180. However, he gets sucked into the whole mess because he was there the night Tod died. Pehr tried to get into the bathroom to save him, but wasn’t able to. When Alex explains his theory about death and that yes, he got small warnings about Tod, Pehr blamed him for Tod’s death and refused to get involved.

However, after everything that happened to Tod’s friends, he started to feel guilty. He began to research similar events and curate a sort of digital archive on the off chance someone else might go through a similar premonition and need the background.

Tod’s death left him cynical and fairly paranoid. Though he tried to go to college and move on with his life, he just couldn’t do it with the knowledge that Death is literally out to get people. He dropped out after one year, and now (in his 20s) works night shifts at a convenience store, living out of his van— he prefers to be mobile. He still has nightmares about Tod’s death, and has some intrusive thoughts. He smokes to help calm his nerves.

Though he’s burned almost all bridges with his own family, Tod’s mother still reaches out to him, to make sure he’s taking care of himself. It means a lot to him that she still thinks about him, even years later.

Pehr’s fairly certain that eventually he’ll be involved in some sort of tragedy, since he’s become somewhat of a thorn in Death’s side, educating its targets (like how Bludworth disappeared). He just hopes he’ll get to see Tod again when Death finally gets his ass.
