Val’s been on my mind bc I started playing Cyberpunk 2077 which means obviouslyyyyyyy I made Valeriy like come on

It’s been fun revisiting him and what motivates him, particularly when he’s built up so many facades to hide the fact he DOES have motivations. like, he’s corpo, the last thing in the world you want to let people know is that you care about shit or have goals you’re working towards outside the corporation.

particularly since the only thing Val finds truly fulfilling in life is violence yet he is utterly incapable of taking it remotely seriously

#he’s been raised with a silver spoon in his mouth since birth and groomed to use his body to manipulate people into giving up their secrets #by his corpo ‘family.’ he has everything he could ever want and more (in theory)#it’s also interesting thinking abt what morality looks like for him #bc he truly does think he’s better than everyone around him #so it’s not so much that he only targets corporations out of some sense of morality #but that anyone outside a corp is worthless to him. so why would he bother?#they also don’t have any skin in the corporate game + break too easily so non-corpos are no fun for him to play with #he’s in such a precarious place where he’s worth sooooooo much to the corporation alive but if they ever found out abt his extracurricular #activities he’d be sooooooo fucked #< is literally targeting his own corporation + providing cutting-edge weapons for a rival #+ like the funny thing abt making Val in 2077 is that like. ‘ohhh you get booted from the corp now u can rebuild ur life’#but that would be DEVASTATING for Val #like if that ACTUALLY happened to him in his intended setting he’d FREAK #I genuinely don’t think Val as he exists could handle losing his corporate family even THOUGH he’s actively working against them #< it is literally 100% genuinely all just a giant game in his head. stakes don’t exist to him #so if he was suddenly forcefully made aware of the stakes that have always existed. I do think he’d lose his shit
