just finished making another DVD: The Pencilmiss DVD! it's an unofficial collection of all of the pencilmation shorts I animated during my time on the show. Seventeen shorts, total time of about 48 minutes!

I also threw in a few bonus features like early passes on a few shorts and a fun menu with some commentary. If I had time, I would have also recorded a few commentary tracks just like the good ol' days of DVD, but time ran out. Maybe next time...

also, I got my hands on a printer that can print directly onto DVDs! and the results are amazing. it really goes the extra mile into making these things feel much more legit. this project took a few days to put together, but it became a great stress test for both my old copy of adobe encore and my DIY DVD-making process.

I'm happy to finally have all of my Pencilmation shorts archived after years of putting it off. finding and gathering these shorts was harder than I expected as most of them were never individually released. Instead, most only saw release as a part of half-hour compilations, and the finished results didn't always make it to my inbox even when I was still on the show.

Looking back while making this, I'm impressed by my visible creative growth while on this show. it feels good to have that journey now better documented in chronological order.

My last Pencilmation short was released recently! While I wouldn't say this was the most interesting short I've worked on, it's got some animation in it that I thought turned out pretty nice at the time, and it had me excited for the future as I was in talks to change things up for myself at the studio following this short's completion.

The studio had felt they could use my help in other areas once this short was starting to wrap, and the idea was to have me focus on keyframe animation while also helping the writing department come up with short ideas. That would've been seriously cool for me as I've always been self-taught in creative writing and never got to formally write scripts for a show that wasn't my own.

There was also a proposal of having me help teach animation fundamentals to students in a partnership with an online teaching course. Though I don't know if I would have jumped for that one being the introvert I am, it was still exciting and humbling to have my skill recognized to such a degree.

Either way, the future was exciting! And then it suddenly changed into a different, but still exciting future in its own way. I was looking to change things up for myself after this one, and in a way I guess I got exactly that. xP
