“Oh, you are not about to make this about me. This is about you.” And the freaking horns, but she leaves that sentence to his imagination. Surely no one in the diner needs to know their business, let alone anything that could be considered illegal under the law. Nothing has been put into effect in regard to vigilantes ( not anything directed at the moment ) but there are ways to put those captured behind the bars of maximum security prisons. Marci can only imagine how Matt’s life would embody chaos as he fought those who knew his strengths and weaknesses. She immediately thinks of Franklin, and how their companionship could be used against Matthew, and her fury rages on.
The idea to pour steaming coffee crosses her mind, yet she grips it until knuckles are white. HOW DARE HE. How dare he think that the people of Hell’s Kitchen want his assistance? And how dare he believe that they all should side with him? Has he not thought of those he could get KILLED. If Marci finds out that one hair on Foggy’s head is harmed due to the reaction to the devil, she’ll come for him herself. there is nothing she can do PHYSICALLY, but legally, there are ways. it would be the case of the year, that could only be prevented with franklin nelson’s safety. matt won’t be able to tell if he’s made an ally, or an enemy tonight. it depends on the future.
“Don’t act like you’re a big hero.” Whispers fly as quietly as she can, thankfully avoiding the sight of others in the dark corner. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing? You know how dangerous that is? And not just even for you, but for Foggy, and that girl that works for you. If Foggy is injured, I swear to God, Murdock.”
True to form, Marci Stahl got aggressive immediately, despite the fact that he was legitimately trying to make sure she was alright, even after she’d tased the one person who’d shown up to give her a hand. He wasn’t sure if he should be annoyed or impressed, but the first was winning out over the latter simply because he was shaky picking up his coffee and there was a lot more accusation in her body language and voice than she even said, and she said plenty. “I’m not, actually,” he said, starting with the ‘big hero’ part of it, because he wasn’t. Half of the city hated him, most of the police would do everything they could to bring him in if they ran into him, and his relationship with Foggy, who was the most important person in the world to him, had gone down in flames. He was no hero, but he couldn’t ignore the people who needed help, even if some of them turned out like Marci. “I’m painfully aware of how dangerous what I do is, thank you, Marci,” he grated, thoughts instantly back to losing Foggy’s friendship and partnership, Karen going to the newspaper and Elektra’s death - he was alone, and it was better that way for exactly the reasons Marci was pointing out. “Listen, Marci, we both know you’re in better contact with Foggy now than I am, so I think he’s safe. Karen went to the Bulletin, which we both also know you’re aware of because she and Foggy still get together sometimes. Short of having history that I can’t do anything about, everyone who knows me is about as safe as they can be, and I intend to keep it that way. If your whole point here is that I’m a danger to others, you’re a little behind.” He set his coffee down, frustrated with her, himself and the situation at large, and the shake in his hands as he tried to drink from the damn mug was the last straw. “And what the hell kind of taser was that? Nothing that strong is legal.”
