“Considering you have his face, it wasn’t a wild assumption.” She muttered, before her face morphed into something more pleasant and less horrified. A clever girl, Rose still had no concept why she was so easily following every one of this man’s commands. There was something unsettling about it – But also comforting. She had a feeling it was the face. It was so familiar, so attractive… The face of the man she LOVED. “So, you’ve not heard of the Doctor…?”
kilgrave shrugged. “no; never heard of him,” he said. who went by their sodding title anyway? sounded like a bastard.
“why don’t you tell me about him? it’s not every day you hear that someone looks exactly like you.” he raised an eyebrow & waited. rose would tell him, one way or another. it was quicker to just throw orders at her, & he was curious.
“Just you wait,” he hissed. “Just you wait. Papa Koschei is coming, coming, coming, over the hills on his red horse, and he’s got bells on his boots and a ring in his pocket, and he knows your name, Marya Morevna.”

14. What do they care deeply about? What kind of loyalties, commitments, moral codes, life philosophies, passions, callings, or spirituality and faith do they have? How do these tend to be expressed?
as kilgrave says in canon “before you, i rarely dwelt on anything”. because he can have anything he wants, it’s very hard for him to care about anything. he is very materialistic, but i wouldn’t say he cares about the things he collects -- his clothes are labelled, but i’d imagine he abandons them very quickly, and replaces them. his nomadic lifestyle means that he doesn’t have roots anywhere either, so he doesn’t really care deeply about anything. it’s kind of sad, when you think about it.
in terms of life codes, he lives in a constant state of moral ambiguity. he doesn’t responsibility for any of his actions, so i suppose that’s a life philosophy, in itself. nothing is every his fault. this is expressed in his daily life -- he’s not guilty about the people he’s “let die”. he doesn’t see himself as a murdering, thieving, rapist. but that’s what he is. his lack of guilt is expressed in the fact that he keeps doing morally reprehensible things, and doesn’t stop to think about the people he’s hurting.
kilgrave feels no way about faith. god and religion hold little interest for him, and he’s hardly given it a second thought. if there is a god, then kilgrave imagines him as a distant figure, who doesn’t love humanity. certainly the god of kilgrave’s imagination doesn’t love him. if he did, why did he let kilgrave suffer a child? his lack of religion isn’t expressed in any way, because it hardly crosses his mind.
24. How do they present themselves socially? What distinguishes their “persona” from their “true self”, and what causes that difference?
i wrote a meta about how kilgrave is basically walking persona. socially, he is confident, arrogant, well put together, & generally a successful person. this is a carefully built façade, & we don’t really see anything besides that in canon. except when he sees his parents.
when kilgrave meets his parents again, in the hermetically sealed room, i believe we see his true self, underneath the persona. he is genuinely upset and apologetic. his voice is gentler & quieter. he cries. kilgrave would never cry, but we’re not seeing kilgrave. we’re seeing kevin. kevin is his “true self”, buried under his villain persona, which he donned to cope with his parents abandoning him.
underneath everything, kevin thompson is still a child. he never grew up. he never learnt empathy & never took responsibility for his actions. he never needed to, because everything was handed to him on a silver platter.
on the outside, he’s confident, self-assured, & selfish. but, deep down, he’s still broken & lonely & desperate for love & affection.
30. What is their preferred level of activity and stimulation? How do they cope if they get either too little or too much?
i wouldn’t say that kilgrave is lazy, exactly, but he doesn’t do much with his day. he would rather be watching tv than outside, for example. his preferred level of activity is pretty low, but it’s not nil. if he is stuck inside for ages (more than two days, for example) he gets restless. he paces, he breaks things, he can’t settle. he’s like a trapped lion.
on the other hand, if he wears himself out, then he complains to anyone who will listen. he’s like a toddler who’s been dragged on a family outing. “i’m tired!” “are we nearly there?” all that rubbish. as i said, he’s not lazy, but he definitely prefer a sedentary lifestyle to an active one.

33. How do they learn about the world – what is their preferred learning style? Hands-on learning with trial and error? Research, reading, and note-taking? Observation or rote memorization? Inductive or deductive reasoning? Seeking patterns and organization? Taking things apart and putting them back together? Creative processing via discussing, writing about, or dramatizing things?
kilgrave is definitely a do-er. he learns by trial & error. when he was first pushing the limits of his power, as a child, he told people to do progressively violent things, just to test the boundaries of their self-preservation. one person stabbed themselves. would another person cut off their hand? what about acts of violence against other people? how far would people go?
i also feel that he needs people to discuss his ideas with. he’s not one for long periods of inner thought, so he tends to voice his opinion to anyone who will listen. i’d imagine that he did this a lot when he was looking for jessica -- he would call the family of whatever house he was staying in, & ask their opinion on his outfit, or his hair. did he look good enough to declare his eternal love to jessica? of course, he would force them to tell him the truth, & then get furious when they aren’t complimentary.
kilgrave learns about the world very overtly, & makes other people get involved in his learning, even at their own detriment.
38. Is there anything they wish they could change about their world-view or thought processes? What, and why?
in his opinion, there is nothing wrong with kilgrave thought processes. his view of the world is rather paradoxical & unstable -- he wants everyone to do exactly what he says, but then he sometimes gets pissed off when they do it. it’s their fault, for being so weak & easy to control, so why do other people act like he’s done something wrong?
because of his narcissistic tendencies, kilgrave is almost unable to see anything wrong with his personal world-view. he wouldn’t change anything. if he’s mistaken about something, then it’s not his fault (for example, he was never in love before jessica, but that’s not because he didn’t know what love was. that’s because he simply never loved anyone, because nobody was worthy.)
I was always hungry for love. Just once, I wanted to know what it was like to get my fill of it — to be fed so much love I couldn’t take any more. Just once.
Haruki Murakami (via quotemadness)
“Are you shitting me?” Jessica couldn’t have stopped her little outburst even if she wanted to. And she wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to. Just because she was supposed to be helping him or whatever bullshit he’d concocted. Just because she was afraid of what he would do if she pissed him off. ( And Hope and Malcolm were still out there for him to ensnare again. ) Just because… it didn’t mean he got to silence her RAGE.
“It was never the fucking house that made me happy.” She snatched one of the photos off the shelf. One of the photos he’d gone to painstaking and sickening measures to find again. And she threw it at him. “It was them and you can’t bring them back. You can’t fix me or whatever bullshit you’ve made up in your twisted skull. You want to play the goddamn hero? Start learning what actually goddamn matters.”
of course patience hadn’t worked. kilgrave sighed. he watched her pick up the photograph, & flinched when she threw it. it was an automatic response. he knew she wouldn’t dare throw it at him. even though she was angry, he knew that she wouldn’t be so stupid as to direct her anger at him. she didn’t know what would happen, & she wouldn’t want to risk it.
“you want to talk about manners?” he asked. “i’m not the one throwing things.” he looked at her. she was the one standing up, but he still had the control. they both knew it. he kept his voice level & calm. “you’re right; i can’t bring them back. but i can do everything else, jessica. i’ll bet you remember more about them, now you’re here? i’ll bet you feel closer to them.” he raised an eyebrow, smiling a little at her.
“i’m not trying to fix you. i’m trying to help you. you don’t have a life without me. you’ve got a shitty little apartment; you hate your job; you have no friends. i’m trying to give you a purpose. but i’m not trying to fix you. there’s nothing wrong with you.”
the rules are simple! post ten characters you’d like to roleplay as, then tag ten people to do the same ( if you can’t think of ten characters, just write down however many you can and tag the same amount of people ). aside from that, please REPOST instead of reblogging.

i have a job interview at lush cosmetics today! wish me luck, because looking for a job has been so nerve-racking and awful. this would really suit me down to the ground!
All he gets in response is a raised eyebrow before she turns her head away. He’s wasting her time and if he continues one this way she has half the mind to leave. Her fingers rest in her lap, intertwined as she eyes a passerby idly. There are much more entertaining things she would rather put her attention to. “You’re on the clock as we speak.” No charge, literally speaking.
The feeling that follows his words is like a gentle haze. As if she over slept and hasn’t quite shaken it yet. Jamie frowns, spares him a glance. There’s the impulse to answer him truthfully but she does what she can to bite her tongue. “Enough. But I’m sure you knew that.”
jamie is relaxed, & kilgrave knows that she’s had exchanges like this before. one couldn’t run a criminal empire without gaining some unwanted attention. he doesn’t appreciate being told he’s on the clock. if he were in a crueller mood, he would have simply told her to be interested. it makes no difference to him. but he wants to play the long game, because he hardly has anything better to do.
“how ominous,” he replies, raising an eyebrow. “obviously you know enough. or you wouldn’t be here.” he folds his arms.
“alright, i’ll start, seeing as you don’t want to. your name is moriarty, but i’m betting that’s not your real name.” he knows enough about aliases to be able to spot one. “you’re responsible for half the crime in the city. i’d say i was impressed, but i don’t want you to think i’m trying to flatter you.”
