Okay I promised to pester you than shall I fulfill my promise
What is your opinion on penias (the penitent one x esdras)? I know that, if speaking directly about canon, esdras would not realise his attraction and the penitent one would most likely not give a flying fuck (imho) buuuut if to dive into "what-if"'s territory, how do you percieve them?
I personally never saw it, but if I wanna extrapolate their relationship from the canon I think there’s def a nonzero chance that you’re cooking. I always headcanoned the ages of the characters as Crisanta > Penitente > Perpetua > Esdras so the ship never occurred to me, but off the top of my head it definitely has its merits:
- Esdras learning to branch out in the kinds of love he feels and for whom
- extrapolating Esdras’ disillusionment with the Miracle into an arc similar to Crisanta’s (but once again with him being someone more in touch with love than she is), which ultimately brings him closer to Penitente
- Penitente doesn’t really have any personality in-game which works with the story but makes shipping hard. However I think that Esdras being more in touch with feelings of love and an understanding of what it means to care for someone could realistically be used to bring him out of his shell
- it would be interesting to hc Penitente and Esdras as being closer in age, because that could lean into Penitente’s lack of identity in the grand scheme of the story. Like he’s just some guy who showed up and joined the Brotherhood around the same age and time that Esdras joined the Legion, which would make them more relatable to one another. Parallels n shit.
- going off of that I feel like we can do something with identity. Like Penitente willingly gave up his identity in the name of his penance in the Brotherhood, whereas Esdras had the illusion of his own identity through his love for his sister and his lack of penance working for the church. That whole thing of Esdras feeling that he has an identity purely because he has no sins to hide (purpose of the capirote) and at the same time Penitente trying to deny himself identity through his anonymity in a way that is counterintuitive (he is the last remaining member of his brotherhood, he is no longer one of many, he has no choice but to embrace a solitary identity)
Anyway yeah so I personally don’t ship it but also I would never say that I cannot see the appeal ☝️
Red.
Kiss that fucking conehead Esdras I'm so sick and tired of you!!
For the love of god please pretend that I'm able to do backgrounds and they are in the mea culpa chapel or whatever and I didn't fuck up the angle 1092081 times
I've been torturing this thing for 5 hours in total so I guess I should just let it go
a taste for coneheads runs in the eclessia family
it also looks like esdras is staring at crisanta in horror (understandable) while perpetva is staring at the penitent one skeptically which was not intentional but adds to it I guess
how do you draw men how do you draw grass I need to touch both
