Tbh even though I like making fun of Esdras for being sopping wet and pathethic and dumb af, being serious I understand that he is actually sopping wet pathethic and dumb af because man is at the lowest possible point in life ever. And being serious, he is handling it surprisingly WELL for the kind of shit he went through. Yes, he fled the Anointed Legion, but the amount of Perpetva flashbacks he must've had all the time is insane. Yes, he let the false Perpetva manipulate him, but his sister literally said that she will be with him after death, so it made sense to believe he wasn't just hallucinating. And killing Penitente was also a goal set in the name of the Church ('after your departure, it is now my turn to prove I'm deserving of our Capitain's trust'), not just because the false Perpetva had told him to do so 'cause it would be funny idk. And even though he yells her name in battle, I can't really fault a man for calling out to the only relative he had for help. And he continues fighting even after that, so it's more of 'help' as 'aid' and not 'help' as 'protection'.

So even though Esdras is in Perpetva's shadow both as a person and as a character, I think he is a pretty tough guy even on his own. If the only family member I ever had died in my arms protecting me while she was the 'greater' of us both and I also lived in fucking Custodia mind you I would've KMS LIKE IN FIVE MINUTES. AND THE MAN CLIMBED MOUNTAINS AND DIDN'T THINK 'hmm maybe I should jump down there".

The only question left is why did he hit the ground with his weapon. No excuse for that my boy.
