This is literally how my mom defends me on Facebook:
Me: I JUST WATCHED PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER AND CRIED REALLY HARD.
Twelve-year-old: I JUST GOT A FIVE MAN FEED. See how nobody cares?
Mom: A five man feed? For a little boy? Damn.
Me: I JUST CHOKED.
Mom: I bet he did too.
Fat kid, new shirt, work MySpace selfie.
You 5.29.2012
While lacking inspiration, you appear vividly in my mind. Although you are ever-present there, in my mind, among other places, I find you sweetly.
You guide my blind eyes to the truth and place my heart on the matter. This is only one of your many talents.
As the clock ticks with purpose, you drift, flowing through life with grace and ease. It's beautiful to witness and heaven to partake in.
You give me this. You gave me these words; you, love, mother-in-law, family, understanding, forgiveness, and happiness. Those words packed like fragile picture frames in an old box. Folded and taped up just for us and to stacked to build our new lives.
It's your mother's 41st birthday for another 19 minutes. 20, if you believe in the rule that you must wait until 12:01 for a tomorrow that never truly arrives.
I believe that, but I won't argue.
I cannot help but to wish she knew my talent. My ability to shape words into beautiful thoughts. Like she formed the word 'yes' into a beautiful you, which turned into a beautiful us.
I wish she knew that I think of her and thank her every day for creating you... For giving you the life she gave you, which placed you in my life.
Or was it your life that I stumbled into? This whole possessive bull is tiring. We all share life just as we share our air and our world. Equally. But that's another story.
You called me beautiful when I came back to the bed just now. I went to the bathroom for a moment and you did that. You placed yet another word in my soul and in our beautiful, beautiful life; beautiful.
Did your mother teach you that?
She thinks she's not pretty. I think otherwise. With her age, she has kept her youth, a Monroe piercing amongst many others, tattoos, and plenty of other rad decisions from years past. She carries them with confidence and boldness. Her hair looks great whether double-clipped in a hurry or straightened with care. Her nails are always done and if they aren't she wants them to be. On the go, busy, stressed and dress to impress, she flies through life as if the world could end before she is able to clearance shop, pick up ingredients for supper, or make lunch for everyone in enough time. Life would fall apart without her.
Like the wind or a tornado that cleans instead of destroys, she swipes up dirty clothes and dishes and wipes up dirty plates and pans in a flash. Hurry and take your last bite before she asks if you're done and help when you can and without being asked because she's super woman and has learned to do without.
Without the help she succeeds with ease, with the help you can see she's pleased.
