Morals of middle schoolers
Today the walkout tomorrow (March 14th) was brought up which logically brought up a conversation about gun control laws. During the debate in which 5 of 30 of us wanted structer gun control I asked a question. The question was "Are the lives of teenagers, children, your friends, your own life worth having access to semi automatic and automatic weapons (they had previously said that not a single one of them had automatic weapons and they all disapproved of the use for them in hunting) the response I got was terrifying. The answer was yes. Not only was it yes but they laughed at the question. These white rural pennsylvanian 8th graders have decided that they rather have other people die for absolutely no reason. The other response was it won't happen here so they oppose the gun control. When I said I would participate in the walk out I had the other 4 that are participating and one gun control opposer that didn't get angry and take it as a personal attack. The color orange is being used to show support tomorrow. This lead to many people telling other people not to wear it. I will be wearing orange because I don't want my classmates to die. However, two classes after that I mention that at least no one said they are bring a gun to shoot those wearing orange to school tomorrow. One my classmates wearing an NRA shirt said "I haven't?" Now I am faced with a dilema to I support what I believe or do I not just incase they decide our difference in opinion is worth my death.
