what is happening in philly
i started walking down that path, beyond the winter months //
My love of this place feels sort of helpless sometimes. No matter where I go, I fear a part of me will always belong to the intersection of upper-appalachia and the rust belt.

Hey, I see you’re from PA from the most boring part the northeastern. What about you, Homie?
I am freakishly patriotic for Pennsylvania and think the rest of the United States should go to Hell. (except New Jersey, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and New York. They're chill and can stay.)
I love Philly DIY shows. I love getting 40s and veggie burgers from Rutters and day-drinking. I love going to Chocolate World freshly post k-hole. Also, picking a worm out of my food in a Johnstown soup kitchen as a child helped build character.
I'm also a firm believer that some of the best bands to exist came out of our music scene.
....South Central sucks though.
Sometimes I get sad for people who fully hate sports.
I won't lie and pretend the world of pro-sports is ethical or free of exploitation or fuel for the all-american eternal flame that is egregious consumerism. People get nasty. Emotions run higher than many can regulate effectively.
But seeing communities come together and get passionate about human performance and celebrating togetherness is beautiful to me. For a moment my friends and I didn't fear the future. We didn't fear the impending doom from our financial turmoil. We didn't think about what it meant for us to be marginalized amidst the rise of fascism. We just wanted to see the birds win the bowl. And they did.
On the way home we rolled down the windows and shouted joyously to people taking to the streets in center city adorned in jerseys that matched the illuminated skyline overlooking us. An emerald city green. And they cheered right back. It was only a moment, but I'm grateful and savor the feeling I get when strangers, no matter how fleeting their presence may be, are friends. Because it brings the high points of classic literature and film to life. Comradery with fellow people can feel so distant in our cold world. But not on game day. Not in Philadelphia. Not when the birds win.
Also Kendrick Lamar fucking devoured.
And I saw 2 cool ass fursuiters on my way home.
I love Pennsylvania.
