Story: Respite (original work)
Prompt: siblings / tragic - @ocdynamicsevent day 3
Word count: 225
“Hey. It’s been… a while.”
Peony stood in the garden, in front of the lone tree stump. Flowers, big and small, littered the grass surrounding her. The emptiness of the sky above her reflected on the blade of the dagger that stood on the stump, a reminder of what lay beneath the dirt.
A breeze blew past her, and it was cold. So cold.
“It’s me, your… little sister.” She fidgeted with the plate in her hands. The slice of cake it holds stayed still despite all of it, with the burning candle atop it the only source of warmth in the moment. “I don’t know if that still matters to you… or at all… anymore.”
…
The flowers swayed in the wind. “I… have been looking for you, all this time.” She looked down. “I didn’t think you’d have gone so far away.” A leaf fell and landed on her head. “I’d love to know why…”
…
Peony sighed. “There isn’t much I can say, huh…”
She kneeled and placed the plate of cake in front of the stump. Tears formed in her eyes. “Still, I really wanted to at least see you again, but I guess it’s not happening…”
As she got up and walked out of the garden, a gust of wind blew out the candle. She closed her eyes and smiled.
Story: Respite (original work / OC)
Prompt: #FFF 340 Parallel Lines - @flashfictionfridayofficial
Word count: 129
peony never really believed in fate or destiny. life is a journey and the path is hers to take.
(█████ never really believed in miracles.)
which is why, when the world gave up on finding her missing sister, she took matters into her own hands.
(which is why, when everyone gave up on them, they didn't wait.)
she knows what people say about her. she's weird. she's stupid. she's doing all this work for nothing.
(they know what people say about them. they're worthless. they disappoint others. they're nothing.)
peony doesn't care.
(█████ doesn't want to think about it anymore.)
she knows her efforts would be worth it if it means their paths could cross, even for a brief moment.
she just wants to see her sister once again.

me when i use the prompt in the writing style and format of the fic instead of the contents
i know i've written a fic like this before but the prompt was just too fitting for me to not do it again.
Story: Respite (original work / OC)
Prompt: #FFF 328 A House on the Hill - @flashfictionfridayofficial
Word count: 184
Content: cozy-ish, but not fluff. some parts of this story are in parentheses! you can read them separately or all at once if you like.
on her tenth birthday, peony went up the lush green hill in the middle of her neighborhood.
(ten years prior, someone familiar did the same.)
she had heard of this place, but never visited it. a big tree atop the hill overlooked the town, enveloping her in its shade. peony sat and leaned on the tree. she felt calm here, a tranquility like no other…
(they visited this place regularly, sometimes even multiple times a day. they felt calm here, a tranquility like no other.)
…but it might’ve been the wind. the tree wasn't special to her. really, why would it be? she'd never been here.
(in the midst of the busy neighborhood, it was the only place they could rest. a place to seek respite. a place… like home.)
peony closed her eyes.
(they hung their head low.)
she told herself she'd only stay a while. she needed to go home soon.
(no… not like home. not at all. unlike home, this was a comfortable place. unlike home, this was somewhere they could bear to stay.)
(unlike home, they wanted to be here.)

THERE IS NO HOUSE HERE I AM SORRY. i took the prompt to mean 'home'.
