Pepsi BBQ Dinner, Simple Visual Recipes
Pepsi asked L.A. Foodie to create some Visual Recipes using Pepsi as an ingredient. Obviously, our first thought was BBQ. So we put together an incredibly simple meal featuring the flavor of Pepsi throughout. The following three Visual Recipes will make:
Ribs taste good. And this recipe is so damn easy. Cut two racks of ribs into four-bone sections. This will make them much easier to handle once they're finished cooking. A rib rub is optional, but brown sugar, salt, and pepper will do the job fine. (If you're ambitious, here is Alton's rib rub.) But the BBQ sauce will be plenty spicy, so don't stress. Speaking of which, any BBQ sauce will do for the pre-broiler baste. But since we're cooking with Pepsi, might as well make...
This sauce is the perfect accompaniment to the ribs. The Slow-Cooked Sticky Ribs will have some Pepsi flavor from the braising liquid, so the Pepsi in the sauce compliments the ribs nicely. Drill a hole in the cap so you can reuse before you recycle. Plus the new Pepsi bottles make nice squeeze bottles. It's time for dessert...
Somebody on Instagram wondered if the other brownie mix ingredients were implied in the visual recipe for 2-Step Bubbly Brownies. The answer: No. It's seriously just the mix and the Pepsi. I should mention that these aren't like most brownies you've tasted. They're quite dense and almost rubbery when they cool. Here at L.A. Foodie World Headquarters, we were about 50/50 split on like/dislike. But nobody hated 'em. And a couple people raved. Post a comment if you try 'em out.
Special thanks to our sponsor Pepsi for making all of this possible. Sponsors like Pepsi help L.A. Foodie keep the lights and internet on around here. Plus it allows us to do fun and creative stuff like make these Visual Recipes.
