I saw this band for this first time when they opened for Broken Bells several years ago. My first impression was not good, but after checking them out online a few days after the show, I realized I had been crazy for thinking they were lame. It’s interesting to see how they’ve evolved so rapidly. They started off with a pure math rock sound, evolved into the indie/folk heard here on this album, and now are going more towards indie pop on their most recent release. Looking forward to see where their sound goes next. This song is catchy and fun on the outside, but I feel carries a melancholy message in it’s lyrics. The singer is stuck in his emotions, waiting, and lost, wandering. The music video I included really pairs well with this message. Check it out. Thinking about it now, I should probably relisten to this album to see what other themes are hidden inside. I’ll continue the theme of “posting a song by a band that opened for Broken Bells at a show I was at” tomorrow! Get excited.
“I don't think there is a sound that I hate more Than the sound of your voice When you say that you don't love me anymore”
This is one of my all time favorite songs.
