Finished! Winners of the Valentine's Day poll, Jeanne and Stanton! Took me a little longer than I wanted (and I'm still not fully happy with Stanton—somehow I can never draw him consistently), but sometimes that's art babeyy
Is this the future of canon? Is this just an AU where Jeanne does go for coffee (or tea) with him instead of getting caught trying to smuggle Cal through the portal? Who knows.....
(characters from A Four-Dimensional Plot, ongoing urban fantasy serial story that I'm sharing for free via email. You can check it out here if you're interested!)
"Knock, knock!" A cheerful, accented voice sang from behind me.
I spun around in my chair, heart-rate spiking, and resisted the urge to grab for my Rimloc.
Mrs. Mei waved at me, smiling, and stuffed a cleaning rag into one of the pockets on her jumpsuit. Typically, I tracked people by their footsteps, which was easy enough in this quiet of an office—but she hadn't made a sound. She had this almost uncanny way of appearing places, as if she just popped up there via teleportation.
I swallowed my shock and smiled. "Mrs. Mei! How may I help you?" It would have been better to open with some pleasantries—and a less high-pitched voice—but I was more keyed up than I had realized.
She took it in stride. "Oh, no trouble," she said, rubbing at a spot on the cubicle doorway, as if she were here to dispatch an offending smudge of dust. "I only had a small favor to ask of you, since you are very kind."

This is the newest installment in my serial story, shared via email, about a washed-up agent trying to save a fugitive, a frightened teenager investigating the shape-shifting dragon dealing with his grandma, and a secret research site in the woods.

Chapter 6 of A Four-Dimensional Plot is now live on my website!
Simple, clever. Not good. But if I told Drake that I had a dragon in the house, that was going to cause more problems than solve them. "What if a squirrel gets in through a window?" I asked with as good of a laugh as I could muster.
"It would catch that," Stanton said with a grin, "we will want ways for you to cancel the alarm, too, so that we don't send out the cavalry to fend off a loose rabbit."
"This could probably have some good applications for pest control," I said, trying to add on to the joke, trying not to think about the 'pest' in my bedroom.
"You could say that's how it's already being used," Moira remarked drolly. She paused. "Not saying that Talsic is a pest, but like, if he turned out to be dangerous, et cetera."
"Of course," I agreed, rubbing sweaty palms on my jeans.

Chapter 4 of A Four-Dimensional Plot is now live for the public!
Part of me hoped that it was someone I could simply shut the door on, but logic (and past experience) warned me that, more likely, they were from CENCA. Especially if there were any important calls that I had missed, or, perhaps, a whole work shift. With any luck, though, they wouldn’t be coming in person to fire me—that seemed too inefficient a use of resources for their style.
Pressing my eye to the door’s peekhole, I held my breath.
As I had half-hoped, half-feared, Stanton was there, with Moira Bentley—and this time, he’d remembered his coat. His hands were pushed deep into the pockets of said coat, as if he were bracing himself for cold, even though it was warmer today than last night. When I looked out the peekhole again, he cast a glance at the door that I could only describe as anxious. I drew back, fighting down the impression that he had seen me.

So, it's Valentine's Day, and I got seized with the sudden and ambitious urge to draw one of my OC couples for the occasion (ambitious because me? draw two people actively interacting with each other?). However, I'm torn between my current story and my OGs like Benn and Kathryn.
Who would you like to see art of?
Jeanne and Stanton (A Four-Dimensional Plot)
Benn and Kathryn (Rifters, Series 1)
Lyn and Zo (Rifters, Series 2)
Jarryd and Ashley (Waysides)
Rhys and Mara (besties, not romantic) (AFDP)
Gail and Michael (Terrarium Lights)
Other couple who I'm not remembering rn (please tag)
Unbiased button for Me and other spectators
I don't believe in love and would like you to draw a dragon

Brief explanations below the cut
Jeanne and Stanton — Coworkers. Stanton has had a crush on her for a while and wants to support her and help her have a better life, but Jeanne doesn't know how to be a person and has to figure out what being in love with someone could even look like. Plus he's technically her antagonist right now, because she's harboring the fugitive he's trying so hard to catch...
Benn and Kathryn — From Benn's perspective this was an intense enemies-to-lovers, and from Kathryn's, she just wanted to befriend the grumpy guy and then Whoops what are these feelings? They are The power couple. They got married and have twins and continue to roam the multiverse doing good and adopting children.
Lyn and Zo — Lyn (former college student) is depressed and wants to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and Zo (former assassin) thinks that's stupid because she's amazing and has so much to offer the world if she's alive and he WILL keep her from dying, so help him. Lyn is pining and in denial because it's less messy to just stuff the feelings into her back pocket and hope they go away. Zo is clueless and thinks that absolute devotion is just what being best friends is like. He's not wrong exactly, but the heart palpitations and urge to kiss her should give him a clue that there's more going on.
Jarryd and Ashley — you know that awkward moment when you're supposed to kidnap someone to be your grandfather's experiment, but then you get trapped in a broken-down spaceship, form a real connection, become friends, and then after mutually rescuing each other multiple times you fall in love? It was a weird few years for them.
Rhys and Mara — skeptic and gremlin. Rhys would like to be in his comfort zone, thank you very much, and Mara wants to Explore the World and get into trouble. Rhys would much rather be the side character, but unfortunately he's the protagonist—and now Mara's enabling him against his will.
Gail and Michael — they've been married for a few decades and love each other deeply. They don't have much screen time since Michael was traveling during most of the story, but when he comes back and finds his wife telling him ghost stories, he believes her and helps her build the ghost a terrarium.
Head of his department and skilled field agent. Leads by example-- and by knowing everything. Personable and warm, but professionalism can make him seem standoffish or awkward. A nerd who likes all the things about his job, including the "monsters". Has an eye for strategy, and is good at placing people to tasks, or tailoring tasks for specific people.
Agent Jeanne Townford:
Field agent and weapons specialist. Knows how to use pretty much any weapon, and can train others to do so, too. A bit of a depressed mess, who cares a lot about helping people--maybe too much, as she has no qualms about throwing herself in the line of fire. Can be surprisingly helpful in comforting victims and the civilians caught up in cases. Typically paired with Stanton, as they do well together in the field.
