H: How would you describe your writing style?

Purple prose! I don’t really do anything meaningful in terms of style; I think my use of present-tense is a bit of a fanfic house style development, though it obviously gets mileage in the world of published lit. 

J: What’s your favorite fanfic trope?  Have you written it?

Uhhhh inasmuch as “consent issues” is a trope and not a massive overbearing thematic preoccupation, I guess that? For things that are definitely tropes: pining and hatesex are two things I write and like a lot. I love when two people are pining while actively having sex with each other, or pining for a third person at the same time as they’re banging, OR one person pining for two other people who are banging each other. 

K: Do you have a guilty pleasures in fic (reading or writing)?

I love a super-domestic, super-tactile longfic dedicated to ridiculously specific material pleasures like clothes and food. It doesn’t need to have a plot that goes anywhere, it just needs to have a troubled heroine getting shitloads of nice stuff she wasn’t expecting. I’m also all kinds of wild for writing villain/heroine ships exactly the way I like them, which is to say with a shitload of apprehension and the bad dude being helpless in at least one crucial area.

for the WIPs meme: no.34 Gilda!

This one is left from Yuletide 2020 -- I started a fic for Liviana that would be dealing with Johnny and Ballin as exes + Gilda detecting that and it adding another angle to their awkward three-way reunion. 

“A man should have a wife,” Ballin says.

“I thought I’d figured you for a bachelor.”

“You thought you had me figured, Johnny.” There is unsettling amusement in his eyes, like an awareness of a joke to which no one else has received the punchline.

“Only that far.”

thanks for the inquiry! after some research and soul-searching, we here at lesamis dot tumblr dot come have traced the current interest in the above concept back to a somewhat popular quote that’s been circulating on tumblr in various forms. in it, keats briefly considers murder in defense of his recently deceased brother, who had been sent forged love letters while he was still alive: 

I do not think death too bad for the villain. [...] I consider it my duty to be prudently revengeful. I will hang over his head like a sword by a hair. I will be opium to his vanity—if I cannot injure his interests. He is a rat and he shall have ratsbane to his vanity—I will harm him all I possibly can—I have no doubt I shall be able to do so.

we have reason to assume that this utterance, perhaps especially in conjunction with keats’s extensive anatomical knowledge, inspired the prompt in question.

fireside - if you had your dream wardrobe, what would it look like?

all the loud, oversized shirts i could physically cram into it. endless pairs of balloon/mom jeans. vintage football shirts. floral midi dresses. the perfect pair of dungarees (these have eluded me), super soft jumpers, and all the trainers i could desire. basically i’m a 80′s/90′s style nightmare. 

crow - which school subject do you wish you had an aptitude for?

maths! i love love love science but my total lack of mathematical skills held me back from really pursuing it at school. plus i kept getting told off in the lessons. but it was mainly the maths. 

moonlit - are you a neat or messy person? Is your room / house orderly?

i’m messy but it’s an organised mess. i know exactly where that book i started three years ago but never finished is, thank you very much.
