I am debating...... not giving Perenian elves full bird feet. They are hard for me to visualize on an otherwise human looking body and also hard to draw Dx
maaaaaaybe slight scales instead? On arms and legs, to match bird feet? feathers stick to more should area?
You might have expected any of the dragons to volunteer, since you'll be looking for reptiles and amphibians. However, not a single dragon showed up, something you're at least a little disappointed about.
"Don't let it get to you," Perenia says, gently patting your shoulder.
"Yeah!" Dani pipes up, dressed for the occasion so well that you almost didn't recognize her. "They're all overgrown lizards with a superiority complex anyway, who needs 'em?"
The only one looking a little out of place is Ghost, who's glancing around him with a sort of passive interest. You get the feeling that he might only be here because Perenia is here, but you don't voice it.
Well then, it's not a big party, but that's probably for the best.
"Ghost, are you ready?" You ask.
He nods fiercely. "Yup! I'm gonna catch a snake and put it in Kiyba's bed when he's not looking!" He looks very excited about this in a sort of sinister way that doesn't really suit him.
You wonder if it would be worth it to let him, or if you should try to herd the snakes away from Ghost. Considering the look on Perenia's face, she'll probably make sure he puts back any snake he does manage to catch, so you'll try not to be too worried.
Happy first official day of Autumn! The folks from the province of Flamoria on the plane of Perenia are partying it up to welcome Poulios as the great phoenix ushers in the change of seasons. The Cultivator of Ashes, the Bringer of Autumn, the Keeper of Death and Rebirth brings change to the land. Enjoy the start of fall y’all!
Ok so saga creatures got me thinking about Perenia (my fan plane) and my seasonal incarnations. So basically each season is physically brought by an incarnation of that season. Originally I had just regular creature cards for them. But now I'm wondering if saga creatures might fit better with the whole cyclical/seasonal theme.
So basically I mocked up a few potential version for my spring incarnation. None of these cards are set in stone, it's mostly showing off the theme adn potential ways to execute it. The three ideas are: keep it as a basic creature; a transform card that represents the season 'down time' and transforms into the saga creature showing them bring the season; or a full saga creature that basically suspends itself after it brings the season.
Which do you think is the best design potential/flavor? (judge it on the design potential/flavor and not the actual cards since they are not finalized or power balanced at all really)
creature only
Transform card into saga creature (the card designer site I used doesn't have full saga creatures so bare with the formatting, the creature abilities are at the bottom of chapter 3)
I've been really feeling the world-building bug lately and I've been thinking hard on Perenia. Realizing I want my incarnations to be flip/saga creatures has really inspired me to work more! But I really want to get to more world-building again to help me work on the flavor for those cards as well as the plane/mechanics in general. What I need..... is a map.
and!
I have now discovered a super cool site called inkarnate which lets you make alllll kinds of maps including fantasy world maps! I highly recommend checking it out if you can, there's a LOT you can do for free!
Anywhosies, as much as I'd like to keep it under wraps until completely done but I get too excited, so have a first peak at the base map of Perenia!
So since forever I always knew I wanted the Stillfrost Archipelago (winter faction) to have a tapped matters theme. Something about bunkering down and making it through the winter. I was workshopping a mechanic since there wasn’t really any out there before (I guess may exert technically sorta?). I was playing around with Hibernate, and it involved choosing to not untap creatures on your untap step but I didn’t really know what to do with it after that. But then we got a lovely little mechanic recently. In of all places, DUSKMOURN!!!!
Now we’ve got Survival!
It’s tapped matters!
It’s on theme flavor wise!
I’m so happy! I can even make an enchantment or something called Hibernate that has the choose not to untap affect if I want to but not have to build a whole thing with, ok now what do I do with tapped creatures?
Okay so you know what a selkie is? If not, it's a like... mythical creature where it's a person that comes from a seal, and they take off their seal skin which turns into a fur coat and they can go out and walk around.
Well! The thing is, if you take a selkie's coat they're unable to go back into the water, and then you two are counted as married. Blah blah blah.
How would they react to their selkie partner/whatever giving them their coat?
Not a stupid ask at all! Sorry it took so long!
You expect Xilixas to take it seriously, despite the way he jokes around. But when you offer him your coat, he just stares at it for a while, and there's a question in his eyes when he looks back at you. You can tell he doesn't think he's worthy of such an honour, despite the way he talks and the usual joking bravado he displays.
"Are you sure about this?" He asks.
When you nod yes, he takes it, but his hands are shaking. He nods, and you can see the nerves in the way he moves now.
"Okay." He sighs after a few seconds. "I won't let you down."
You know he won't. You wouldn't have given him your coat otherwise.
--
You're not sure what to expect with Tahlen, but you trust him, and you're willing to take a chance.
But when you try to give him your coat, he freezes and for the first time, you think you glimpse real fear in his eyes.
"What are you doing?" He asks, his voice carrying a dangerous tremble.
He knows what you're doing, and you tell him as much.
"No." Is his response.
You take this to mean that he doesn't understand, so you explain it again.
"No," He says again, shakier this time. "I don't accept."
"What?"
He stares at you for a few seconds, his eyes like burning embers. "You don't know what you'd be getting into." His words are a caution, but you can't tell if he's referring to himself or some unseen danger.
You're not willing to let this go, but for now, you're willing to step down. With some time and talking, maybe you can figure out what he's so afraid of.

Perenia hesitates, meeting your eyes. "Are you sure about this?" She asks.
When you nod, she accepts your offer and your coat.
"Please know that I won't tie you to me." She says, and her eyes and warm and sincere. "You are free to leave whenever you want, if you want. But," She smiles and pulls you in for a hug. "Please know that I treasure your company."
