Hey so, maybe this is a wild concept to a lot of y'all, but I sincerely believe members from oppressed groups have every right to call out unreliable/toxic allies and not get backlash for it 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

My Black son was in my belly the day Barack Obama was sworn into office. I was so hopeful & happy ...his future would be different. Four years later I’m sitting dumbfounded in front of my television listening to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Fast forward to yesterday & I’m reading the announcement of no charges for Amir Locke’s murderers.

My son is 13 yrs old now, & according to the law a White man can murder him while walking home like Trayvon & Elijah McClain or even while he sleeps like Amir & Breonna. What I now realize is progress for Ketanji & Kamala doesn’t amount to progress for me. Black politicians are hired to support this apartheid structure, not dismantle it. So excuse me if I don’t join in your celebration. Been here, done that.

The only Danone product in my house is BABY FORMULA. Why would you want them to stop selling that in Russia?

You think if they pull out, some desperate Russian parent whose baby is now malnutritioned because local alternatives can't fill the gap is going to... what? Stop the war, somehow? Assassinate Putin? What the fuck is your plan here?

Boycotts that affect local people (instead of military operations) are performative bullshit, and just mindlessly cruel in practice.

There's something laughable and really sad when non-Palestinian allies for Palestinian liberation like DiasporaPoet1 here who would rather centre unreliable allies like Norman Finkelstein while talking over Ghada Sasa, whose Palestinian, and lamblasting Palestinian-American author Rashid Khalidi for not being "radical" enough for them. It's not about actually listening to the oppressed, the Palestinian people for whom Palestinian liberation is literally life and death for them, it's about the aesthetics of revolution for these performative allies. If you are a non-Palestinian who claims to be an ally of Palestinian liberation, you don't get to tell Palestinians that they have "no idea how much determination and sacrifice it takes to do the actual work - and not tweet it". And how is you tweeting back at a Palestinian woman to defend a white guy doing the "actual work", hmmm?? Bitch shut up.
