masking/disassociating are best buddies
My wife Sylver Fyre taking a target from my mouth this last weekend at the Sideshow Hootenanny Legends and All Stars Show in New Orleans. Yep...we were in the Legends show. We are cool like that.
I learned something while working at the casino today... When the fire alarms go off, and the lights start flashing, everyone assumes that someone has won it big on the slots. And they will keep assuming that, and playing. At least until the sprinklers go off.
GLITTER!!
I'm not entirely convinced that glitter is worth all of the trouble. It gets everywhere and never.... NEVER goes away!
Hermit!
I have a confession! Performers (not all, but most of the ones I know) tend to be somewhat hermit like. We are super busy and hard working to begin with. Then there is the fact that most of us are... rather eccentric... so we don't always fit in. However, the number one reason lots of performers tend to be hermits is this... To performers, days of the week are just days of the week. We work when we have work and that tends to be weekends (when everyone else wants to party). It can make it a real big pain to try and make plans with your friends. =P
Cant Win Everyone
So here is the deal: If you follow your heart, work your ass off to make your dreams your reality, let go of what people and society think about you, work even harder, push yourself to your limits and then work even harder.... two things will happen. #1) You will live your dream. You will grow love and respect for yourself. By honoring yourself you will find that you are surrounded by people and opportunities that further catalyze your awesomeness and the awesomeness of those around you. #2) You will disappoint many people. This is incredibly hard at first. I don't think there is a single relative or pseudo family member that I haven't "let down" in some form or another. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to just do what would make them happy or proud. The truth is that would only end in leading a miserable life. Gross. There is a chance they will try to guilt, scare or manipulate you make on to a track that they find most suiting. Don't fall for that. Stand up for your choices, make choices you can stand for. One of the most beautiful things about people is our differences. That means that it's beautiful that you don't have to see eye to eye all the time, even if it is with people you care about.
Mmmm early morning elbow stands! Then off for a photo shoot with Arda Ozum. Then off to the "Where" House to craft with Lindsay-May and AmberLynn. Then to rehearse and choreograph more. Then off to Thai food. Then to packing. I love my life! I have that "I feel pretty, oh so pretty" song stuck in my head. Except I don't pity everyone for not being me. I just wouldn't want to be anyone else.
