Ramsey comes into the room where Gabe's sat. She seems to be fiddling with something in her hands. " So, uh, Gabe? I need to tell you something. I'm... pregnant." She shows him the test, with two faint lines on the display.
Looking up at the sound of his name, his eyes are watching the precise movements of her mouth as they impart such life-changing news, the fruits of their shared passions rearing its head at last. Almost immediately, he feels stunned, lips pressed together in an 'o' of surprise as the weight of what this news presents settles upon his shoulders. Of the implications they would cause, from this point onwards.
"You're... you're really...?" Rising out of his chair in response, he pitches his best effort, only to be betrayed by his own voice, which fails to state the all important operative word, but not for lack of trying. Trusting her always to take her at her word, he casts a glance over the offered test result, confirming the validity of her claims. That in an instant, they had graduated from mere lovers to something resembling a family unit.
"Ramsey, that's... that's incredible news," he breathes at last, his tone turbulent despite all attempts to seem composed. "I think I'm gonna..." All at once, he realises he should go to her, to wrap her up in her arms and celebrate the new life they have conceived between them... Only to bungle the effort, his legs feeling as heavy as ten tonne weights as he takes a step... and immediately slips, crashing towards the ground, the table following after him as an errant hand catches on its side, flipping it over.
Before he hits the floor, a wave of unconsciousness claims him, taking with it the rest of Gabriel's reactions, whilst spreading so far an impression of unease. In better spirits, days from now, he'd show a remarkably more spirited reaction to such wonderful news. But, as luck would have it, being the first O'Hara since dear old dad to father a child with the love of his life brought with it feelings strong enough to overwhelm Gabriel.
He lived in hope that Ramsey would forgive him.
