Pataphysical - Periphera (12th Isle)

While being best known for creating deeply immersive live psychoacoustic experiences, the London based Pataphysical have allowed us to use 'Periphera', the fruits of their debut studio work, as the label's eighth musical oblation. It would have been an excercise in futility to try and replicate the immediacy of their live performances on this record, but we feel that across these 8 disparate tracks inner worlds have been rendered real. Through the careful positioning of field recordings and the creation of soundscapes somewhat reminiscent of heyday Mille Plateau the group have held fast to a desire to craft involved and captivating synthesis. Dream Poetry - “Periphera”

My first poem in several years! I tried to give it a “creeping” feeling by adding one syllable to the first sentence in each stanza, but I’m not sure that it’s quite successful.

Periphera

I am the goddess Periphera Disregarded No homage due But waiting, watching I follow you

I am neither here, there, nor anywhere Caught in a breeze Asphyxiate Slithering, smiling I seal your fate

I hang heavy in the pauses between words A catch of breath So much to say Yet nothing, nodding I slip away

I retreat when the stars and moon burn cold above tickle my skin Solidify Shift back, shadow-wrapped I feign goodbye

I smother you, my darlings, with cursory glances wheezing windsong grazing finger Prying, pulsating I still linger

I stake out a presence, here, at the junction of your dreams Hypnagogic Visions intrude You pray, but I prey I follow you
