I like perisse so hard and I can't find anything about them
Hi! I'm curious: in your opinion, what is the most overrated and underrated ship in the pjo fandom?
Hello! Thanks for asking :)
Mh so this one is hard to answer because I don’t really interact with the fandom anymore, on a “seeking out content” base at least? So I don’t really know what’s... popular or unpopular? Like, it’s been years.
I do think it’s a safe bet that Perc/abeth is still highly overrated in this fandom though. People fawn over it just because it’s the canon endgame. But like... it is literally even in canon overrated? Riordan really went ahead and wrote about Arachne, a villain, making tapestry of two teens kissing like they’re THE all defying romance? Like even the VILLAINS care about this romance? In universe, that’s some high level bullshit even if this was some all odds defying epic romance. That’s the definition of being overrated, honestly. Everybody, literally everybody, ships it, even the villains. C’mon, cool down a bit. And fandom’s adapted that view tht this is like the best ship ever and act like the Pikachu meme when they encounter someone who doesn’t ship it and get even more baffled when you show them instances of where they just Really Do Not Work for you like somehow while reading the text themselves, their eyes temporarily stopped working when those scenes happen? Will never stop amazing me, honestly.
I don’t know about the most underrated ship, but I feel like the majority of non big name ships - meaning, basically all canon ships and a very assorted, selective small number of widely approved non canon ships (like Jason/Percy, or Reyna/Annabeth) - are very underrated. It’s like... stuck? But that’s a problem nearly all modern fandoms have, that experimenting with rarepairs is just not very popular, once there is an assortment of mainstream ships.
I’d say that like... Percy/Clarisse stands out, considering that there is a whole-ass movie about their dynamic, an entire book that centers heavily about their dynamic, and a whole short story that literally is about them. Considering all that canon material, it really does baffle me that it’s not more popular.
Ship Ask Game
Expand on the Clarisse Percy agenda
wish i could. unfortunately it is entirely vibe based.
either u get it or u don't.
kidding ummmmm. it's the toxicity that draws me in tbh...they are the ship that percabeth antis pretend percabeth is and yknow what? i love it. they are both teenage dirtbags with so much anger and they understand one another sooooooo much bc they see themselves in each other and that's where the anger comes in.
Gonna need you to elaborate on your Clarisse and Percy toxic exes thoughts.
i've talked about it before here and here !!
i think i used the wrong term bc i was distracted when reblogging 😭 but i just mean. they're exes. and they were toxic. but now they're like frenemies. yknow? kind of like their canon dynamic. not necessarily toxic exes
like when they were dating? so incredibly toxic and unhealthy. but like...they understand one another in a way no one else does so of course they stay together despite the toxicity which only makes it worse. but then they break up and the distance helps put it all into perspective along with both of them maturing separately so that when they come back together later on, that understanding is like...a lot more healthy? genuinely just their canon dynamic after that scene in som/the chariot side story. where they understand one another but they're still antagonistic but its just playful for the most part. and ragebaiting. because they know what exact button to push and they enjoy roughhousing without it being like. domestic. LMFAO
Wait…Clarisse and Percy vampire au…ohhh so much more toxic….wait….👁️👁️
Firstly your collage is BEAUTIFUL
Secondly yes I IVE the vibe I love it so so much
this is Joe gonna haunt me
so if we’re ever to be a thibg do you think it’d be temporary, forever, breakup but friends, breakup but hate, some convoluted no-dating rhifb
also jsit litelry any other ideas
(I loved it and what sold me was tuning form the cops and baildon each other out do jail likes it’s so specifly ajf i love to so much AND THE PSYCOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS)
THANK YOUUUU i spent way too long on it LMAO
honestly i can see their relationship in many different ways. if it were an au where they were endgame, i think it'd be like they got together when they were young and unhealed and it was so toxic that they broke up and went their separate ways and healing, then running into each other again as their healed selves and finding that understanding in one another without the outpour of rage so they become friends again and slowly fall for one another's healed selves and find the healthy kind of understanding between them
or if we keep the toxicity, i think they'd be like on and off constantly but addicted to one another's chaos and understanding so they keep coming back and it's like push and pull before they eventually break it off for good and are distant for a while before running into each other later on down the line and becoming kind of frenemies again and watching one another grow and heal and find happiness with someone else in a much healthier relationship and be sincerely proud of one another
if percabeth were a thing and endgame - kind of a canon compliant au ig - i think it'd be a little funny if they were just like toxic exes that remained as genuine frenemies kind of like they are in canon where they argue and fight ALL THE TIME but they do genuinely care for and respect one another deep down but they'll never admit it, they find the understanding between one another addicting and comforting - not in a romantic sense at that point, just genuine understanding from another person that makes them feel seen and heard and splayed open even as they still fight and argue between each other
(i do genuinely believe in canon that clarisse and percy are that kind of ride or die. maybe more along the lines of one of them gets caught and they rat the other out to save their own skin but are at the jail that night getting them out,, turning the other in for the "-enemies" part of their "frenemies" dynamic, but being the one that gets them out as part of the "fre-" half of their dynamic) (i think i just like the frenemies dynamic oml LMAO the amt of times i've used that word here...)(THE PSYCHOLOGIGAL IMPLICATIONS)
