Today's wine is the 2017 Phoenix Fumé from @delriospringsvineyard, in Paulden, AZ. Del Rio Springs Vineyard is the only vineyard in Arizona that grows the German grape varietal Phoenix, shockingly. Phoenix, for the record, is a cross between Bacchus and Villiard Blanc. This wine was aged sur lie in stainless steel. Aromas of apple, pear, acacia blossom, citrus peel, and cantaloupe waft from the glass. On the palate, this light-bodied, frutiy white wine has striking acidity and a slightly creamy mouth-feel. Honeydew melon and cantaloupe intermingle with apple, pear, flint, and thyme. The 2017 Phoenix Fumé overall is a satisfying crisp, white wine for late spring and early summer in the high deserts of Arizona. Pair with lighter pasta dishes, seafood, or even something a little on the spicy side. Or salmon. Yeah, this would be great with salmon. #triumphofthehybrids #hybridgrapes #phoenix #perkinsvilleroad #wine #whitewine #localwine #drinklocal #azwine #drinkaz #wineinthetimeofcoronavirus #winereviews #wineporn #phoenixgrape #phoenixwine #winesofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B_qhxrcHH-v/?igshid=t79lhpx60sfx
